Your calculation's are still correct for the case where Andy reaches the QF, even though Davydenko can get level with him by reaching the final, because Andy wins the tie-breaker.
I know, hence why I left it

Updated
Points of players without their US Open points from 2009....
1) Rafael Nadal 10025
2) Roger Federer 6015
3) Novak Djokovic 5945
4) Andy Murray 4945
5) Robin Soderling 4550
6) Nikolay Davydenko 4105
7) Thomas Berdych 3770
8) Andy Roddick 3135
9) David Ferrer 3020
10) Fernando Verdasco 2970
No other player can mathematically overtake Andy.
Berdych can not overtake Andy as he is out.
Roddick can not overtake Andy as he is out.
Davydenko can not overtake Andy as he is out.
Verdasco can not overtake Andy as Andy has now reached the 2nd round.
If Andy goes out in Round of 64
Soderling can overtake by reaching the Semi-Final
Ferrer can overtake by winning the tournament
The lowest Andy can finish is
6th
, highest
4th
Round of 32 or Round of 16 then
Soderling can overtake by reaching the Semi-Final
The lowest Andy can finish is
5th
, highest
4th
If Andy goes out in the Quarter-finals or Semi-finals
Soderling can overtake by reaching the Final
The lowest Andy can finish is
5th
, highest
4th
If Andy reaches the final
Soderling can overtake by winning the title
Djokovic stays ahead by reaching the Quarter-finals
Federer stays ahead by reaching the Round of 16
The lowest Andy can finish is
5th
, highest is
2nd
If Andy wins the Title
Djokovic stays ahead by reaching the Final
Federer stays ahead by reaching the Final
The lowest Andy can finish is
3rd
as both these can't happen, highest
2nd

Yeah, I enjoy it, because it makes things more complicated.
For example, there are now 4 separate rulesets players could be under, depending on whether they're top-30 players, non-top-30 players, ex-top-30 players, or new-top-30 players.
Also the Davis Cup rules are interesting, and complicated enough that the ATP have currently got it wrong with Ferrero!

Who really cares where Andy is in the rankings if he wins the US Open?

I remember the rules were so complex that the ATP also got it wrong at last year end of season tournament WTF where Andy was edged out by Delpo by 1 single game.

5th if Soderling reaches the semis. Otherwise stays 4th - and doesn't have many points to defend until the AO next year.

Apart from Valencia. What is Soderling's draw looking like? Any chance of him going out?

He'll play Federer in the Quarters. I'd expect the swiss miss to win that one.
