Come on guys. You really think it's worth engaging in conversation with someone called "bazzer"? Ignore him.
*I realise the irony of this coming from some mug called "Ghostbuster". Bazzer is worse though!
I object to this "Ghostbuster" or is it it just ghost or just Buster?

Here's a spreadsheet to calculate how the top 4 will look from now up until after the US Open.
Just enter the results for each player, choose the date you want to know the rankings for, and it will automatically update.
Note:
I cannot guarantee that it is fully correct, since it is still not confirmed how the ATP are going to do the rankings in the next few months.
I have assumed that like when there were more then 12 mandatory tournaments earlier in the year, they counted one 250 tourney less (but kept the same amount of 500's), they will do the same in the opposite scenario, when there are less mandatory events (which will happen this year when Canada and Cincinnati fall off) and count extra 250's only.
I have also assumed that loser's points from the first round of the Davis cup get deducted if a player wins a match in a later round. The ATP do not mention this anywhere (not in the rulebook, and not in the rankings FAQ on the ATP site), but the Davis Cup website says that is the case.
You cannot enter two results in one week. If you do, an error message will come up, and no rankings will be displayed. This is because it is impossible for a player to enter two tournaments in one week. The same thing will happen with the Davis Cup, since although you can play it after losing earlier in the week, you will not earn points from it.
I intend making a regular spreadsheet for Roland Garros sometime after the draw is made, and hopefully will post it in the Underground section.
Yamor - your spreadsheet has been brilliant for checking out possible ranking possibilities over the last months. It's so user friendly and accurate too and has saved me hours of manual calculation on the back of envelopes sussing out what Andy needed to do to bridge the gap to the top 2!
I appreciate that its probably a lot of work to put the spreadsheet together but it would be brilliant if you could find the time to extend it from the US Open on til the end of the season.
Thanks again - I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how much we appreciate this.

I could make one, but it's still not known when the ATP will enforce the 'one 500 after the US Open' rule, or start enforcing having to have four in total. That was why I originally stopped at the US.

I would have thought that the week after the last 500 events of the year being Valencia / Basle (w/c 9 November) that if you hadn't met the criteria of at least 4 x 500 events or one 500 after USO that you would be given a "0" from that week onwards as part of a players "countable events"?

I think that will be the case for the post-US Open requirement, but I'm not 100%. I personally think the requirement for four 500's might start earlier, when it's impossible for a player to fulfill it - like if he's only played two, and there is only one left.
Also, I'm unsure if you have to actually count the post-US Open 500 in your ranking, or it's just a requirement to have played it, but it doesn't have to go on the rankings if you have better results from before the US. However this won't affect the top 4 anyway.

My God - so many variables!!! Still, at least once this season is over, it will all be so much simpler for 2010 and beyond!

17/08/09 ie Monday. this is why all the talk of Murray passing Nadal, as on Monday Nadal will lead Murray by just 235 pts. plus/minus the points for Montreal.

the no 2 ranking after Montreal and seeding for the US Open is now simple. Murray now needs to reach the final and if he does Nadal needs to beat him in the final to stop him.

Quickly off the top of my head, Andy SF=360; Nadal QF = 180 so Andy gains 180 points on Nadal whose lead reduces from 235 to a mere 55 points.
Scenario 2 : Andy F=600, Nadal SF=360 so Andy gains 240 points and Andy then leads by 5 points !
