There will be 2 phases where Andy can pick up points, the coming clay season up to Queens and then after Wimbledon up to the end of the year.

Considering many think he may find his form during the red stuff especially during the FO i don't think we should overly worry about.

yes but that relates more to the rankings than the race doesn't it?  If he was to do well again on grass this year, that would help him get to the O2.

and yes you're on Angie.

Well it relates to both really, considering all points he gets this year will contribute to his race to london points, if he made the FO final for instance he would gain a minimum of 1200 points towards his rankings and 1200 points to his race to london tally.

If he wins Wimbledon he would get 0 points towards his rankings but 2000 towards his race to London.

Confused

Why would he get no points if he retains wimbledon?  I don't understand - wouldn't he get the same points as last year?

Admits that ranking points confuse me

It's like having 2000 thousand pounds in your bank account ,it will always be there unless you overdraw but they won't give you extra cash if you don't overdraw ....there you go....sorted.

If he won again he'd replace the 2000 points from last year with 2000 points from this year, as rankings are over a 52 week period. So he'd gain/lose nothing

The race rankings are for 2014 only - so he'd gain any points won this year

I can't say I'm particularly confident he'll pick up much during the clay season. He still looks miles away from being a top 10 player (let alone top 4).

As matters stand with Andy it appears that he is good for about a set and a half, then his lack of confidence returns.

I agree with you, TMH that he does not look like the pre Wimbledon2012, Olympics, USO2012, AO2013 and finally Wimbledon2013.

In my opinion, he still has some way to go before he gets back to his rightful top 4 place. Maybe it's been the lack of Lendl presence at recent tournaments, although Andy says no.

Well the good news is, Miami is the only masters he did well in last year picking up maximum points.

After some quick calculations, he has 5370 points he can gain from the other 6 mandatory masters. Now of course he won't pick up all those points, he would have to win 3 or 4 of them to even get close but it shows how little he is defending in them.

With Delpo being out of Miami, how will this affect Andy's ranking? (Delpo went out in the 2nd round there last year.)

Very sorry for him, but can't help but think about possible points for Andy. I know he has to defend his title.

No make any difference, 2nd round only worth about 45 points.

Andy drops to 8th place in live rankings (last year's 1000 Miami points taken off already) with 3795 points.
Delpo was only defending 10 points, and he is in 7th place with 4260 - so Andy would have to reach the final (600 points) to overtake.
