An improved clay performance this year isn't exactly a big ask

Yeah, he was 2-5. Lost to Lisnard, Wawrinka, Ferrer, Volandri, Blake, and Monfils (at Roland-Garros). Beat Monfils (at Hamburg) and Granolers-Pujol (ranked 291).
It's unlikely that he will be knocked out in the first round of any more tournaments this season, just based on seeding alone.

Losing to Blake and Ferrer isn't all that bad, but now with a higher seeding like you said, he will avoid the good players and he will hopefully be able to make the first couple of rounds!

I'm sorry. The Wawrinka loss was in Miami. So, it is 2-5.

Thanks for that Jake. Baghdatis has been disappointing ever since last Wimbledon.

Exactly. He should never have done it. The Wimbledon gods have cursed him for beating a British player on Centre Court in the 4th round.

Since Andy's withdrawn from Zagreb, it will be a while before he can gain any significant amount points. He can't gain points in San Jose, only defend his title or lose points. Then, assuming he plays in Memphis, he can gain some points, but chances are that he won't gain a lot from Memphis (and it may be a small gain offsetting a small loss from San Jose). The net gain/loss from San Jose/Memphis will probably be small. Indian Wells is his next golden opportunity and that is in March.

Roll on Indian Wells then. Wish I could understand rankng system - I know it's not rocket science but still too complicated for me.

The best way of doing it is this....
1. go to
This page
2. Click on the player you want to know rankings for
3. Click on their points number nest to their name
4, This gives a breakdown of the grand slams, masters series and otehr tournaments to make up a players "best 18" tournaments for the last 12 months.
Follow? Any questions just ask.
