Yes! Into the Top 10 again
Ah but drops a place this week due to points not defended from last year. Same with Djoko, so Andy overtakes him to get to a career-high of p13 without lifting a racket

Yep, Andy will be #13 come Monday. Bagdahtis helped himself the most this week and will back up to #17 or #18 after falling to #22

If Baggy wins then he'll be in 17th, I think.
On Soccer AM's All Sport Show, they mentioned Andy and his great ranking of 14th! They made a joke about Andy being British now that he's doing well, and Rusedski being Canadian, now that he's dropped in the rankings.

Djokovic could have overtaken Andy next week, but Djoko lost in the first round in Marseille.
Edit: my mistake. Djoko will pass Andy, unless Andy wins San Jose.

It is quite possible that Andy will drop to 16th by the end of the week. Both Ferrer and Gasquet can gain enough points in Marseille to pass him. Djoko will pass him if Andy fails to win San Jose. Andy can only lose points in San Jose. It doesn't make much difference, though. Andy, Djoko, Ferrer, and Gasquet are bunched together in the rankings, There is hardly any difference between #13 and #16 right now.

If Andy loses in the second round or quarter finals
Best Possible Rank:
16
Worst Possible Rank:
17
Djokovic
,
Ferrer
and
Gasquet
would go above Murray irrespective of their results, while
Baghdatis
would also pass him if he wins in Marseille.
If Andy loses in the semi finals
Best Possible Rank:
16
Worst Possible Rank:
16
Djokovic
,
Ferrer
and
Gasquet
would go above Murray irrespective of their results, but
Baghdatis
can no longer pass him even if he wins in Marseille.
If Andy loses in the final
Best Possible Rank:
15
Worst Possible Rank:
16
Djokovic
and
Ferrer
would go above Murray irrespective of their results, while
Gasquet
could pass Murray if he reaches the semis in Marseille where he would have to beat Giquel and Davydenko/Soderling.
If Andy wins the Title
Best Possible Rank:
13
Worst Possible Rank:
15
Murray will definately stay above
Djokovic
and will stay above
Ferrer
unless he gets to the semis in Marseille (probably beating Benneteau and Ljubicic) and
Gasquet
unless he reaches the final (probably beating Giquel, Davydenko/Soderling and Ancic/Hewitt).

If Andy loses in the final, Djokovic and Ferrer pass him. Ferrer and Djoko defend zero points this week. Andy leads Ferrer by 40 points. If Andy loses he drops 55 points. Andy's only chance to stay at #13 is to win San Jose.
The following week will also be a neck-and-neck race. Andy can pick up points in Memphis, but Gasquet, Djoko, Ferrer, et al can pick up as many if not more points in Rotterdam.

So the 4 of them switching places for the next few weeks is a probability.

When Andy wins in Indian Wells, all this will become somewhat irrelevant

Great work from the people above.
The "true" rankings will reaveal themselves after the 2 master series next month. Although it would be very nice if Andy can keep his top 16 ranking for these events it may not be a total disaster. Top 16 is of course very important for seeding and being out of them means you may meet a top class player a round earlier, there maybe a drop out that still gives Andy top 16. I think by the time the first masters series turns up he should still be in the top 16 anyways.
With so few points to drop at these 2 events there is a real possibility that he will be knocking on the door of the top 10. Although for me places 9 and 10 are not much of a difference than 11-16 it is still a decent milestone to acheive. The real bonus is top 8 and then the top 4. Apart from prestige, lots of cash and being further away from droppping out of the top 4 I don't think there are many differences from being ranked 1 or 4. In terms of draws that is

Top 16 gets him a bye at one of these masters does it not?

Wouldn't you know it? Davydenko, Ancic, and Lubjicic all lost in the first round in Marseille. This clears the path for Ferrer and Gasquet to reach the final.

Ferrer lost in the second round today. Got his butt kicked by Benneteau. French players have dominated Marseille so far.
