I very, very much hope you're right. But I think my main hope is that even if he isn't perfect for Basel, that he'll be back to normal for the WTF-would SO love him to win there!

He'll play Paris for sure a non appearance will cost him too much money and he has points to defend

Djokovic will be 1755 points ahead or 2155 points ahead of Federer in the race depending on tomorrow's result. Murray will still be 1750 (ish) points behind, or 1350 if he wins. In the actual rankings Djokovic will move to within 500 points of Federer, or 100 if he wins. The gaps between the three players are so big that I can't really see past the year ending Djokovic-Federer-Murray-Nadal. Of course there will be a lot of points up for grabs in Paris and the WTF so who knows. Oh, so he is playing Basel??
He's down to play it.

Said in paper today a bronchial infection not a cold but whatever he seemed to be able to ignore it today. Does he have that many points to defend in Paris as I thought he went out relatively early last year??

He lost to Berdych in QFs, so defending 180. Not a massive amount in the scheme of things. That's all he has left to defend this year though.

thanks tmh. I'd rather he let those points go than jeopardise wtf but of course it doesn't have to be either or if he's fit again and not too tired. I don't mean he should skip it as no point being fined etc but just that perhaps he shouldn't bust a gut to do well. Trouble is that's not how Andy operates. He never wants to lose.

There could be a huge swing in the points between Andy and Fed at the WTF in London. Fed has 1500 points to defend, Andy has none. If Andy wins the tournament and Fed loses all his games Andy gains 3000 points on Fed.

Federer has no real chance of finishing the year No. 1 as he has 3000 points to 'come-off' in the last 3 tournies (having won them all last year). Djoker will finish No.1 but Andy has a chance of No.2 but will probably have to win either Paris or WTF.

If Andy wins tomrrow, the points for this year will look like:
Djokovic : 11010 Federer : 9165 Murray : 7910
So Murray would need 1256 more points than Federer to overtake him before the AO. It's definitely possible but I wouldn't bet on it.
