Well I hope he plays better in Madrid than he did today. Had a good start then his game fell to pieces. Well he would not be Andy if he had his ups and downs.

He loos quite white in the intervie  Last time looked like this was in Asia last year when he was nursing a temperature. So perhaps that is the reason.

It's the way Andy lost the ranking that's the most annoying part.  razz

I don't care about him losing the ranking as until he pulls clear of smugfed they could well be swapping no 2 and 3 for a while. And as Andy himself said apart from no 1, the ranking only matters in terms of seeding and it's not necessarily in his favour always to be no 2 if Rafa is seeded 5.  I thought too much was made of him becoming no2 when the margin was still so slim between him and fed.  What concerned me more was the manner in which he lost, but it does look like he may not have been that well and let's hope such a bad loss will, as he claimed, motivate him to get his act together on clay.

His ranking will go up and down for a while. I do not think it is that important for the moment. Andy knows himself that it will be like that for a while. Maybe you are right Ruthie about Andy not being well Nole is under the weather too. The commentators think he had a fever as he asked for an ice towel and it was not that hot. Andy being Andy we should all be used to his ups and downs.

Yes and I think it doesn't help Andy constantly to be asked about his ranking.  As he himself says if he plays well and wins matches the ranking will look after itself - and of course the opposite is true too.  I wonder if Nole would have beaten Stan given he didn't look well.
Incidentally thought it disgraceful that delpo asked for trainer and sat down in middle of 3rd set tie-break.

I seem to remember that Delpo does it quite frequently.  He's a very big guy, and maybe he does have 'niggles'.  As much as I like to give people the benefit of the doubt - I think he's very often 'at it'...

I was surprised it was even allowed in the rules to disrupt a tie break like that - and then he carried on when trainer didn't turn up so clearly not something that pressing.

He can get the ranking back if Federer doesn't win Madrid OR he reaches at least the quarter-finals there.
