Murray's Ranking

Quote

This how close they are.   cmon yeah
Yep. And Federer is defending 1000-360-720 over next three tournaments to Murray's 0-90-360.

Murray NEEDS to take advantage and go deep in at least a couple of the next three tournaments. A semi-final at Roland Garros would do his ranking the world of good. Needs to build up a big gap now before he has to defend all his points from his incredible latter half of 2012.

I'm not sure I trust those figures. Federer should be on 7680 unless I am very much mistaken. They've only taken off 90 points (adding on 10 for Madrid R1) instead of 1000.

You were right and it's been corrected

1. Djoko 12730
2. Andy 8580
3. Fed 7680

As it stands:

2 Murray 8660
3 Federer 7760
4 Ferrer 6830
5 Nadal 6075

And of course Murray could pick up more points yet.

Nadal could return to #4 if (when) he wins Madrid, if Ferrer loses to Haas today.

If I'm not wrong, Murray is guaranteed top 2 seeding for French Open now. Federer can only reach 8400 points (if he wins Rome), Murray will have a minimum of 8480 (if he didn't play Rome) or 8490 (first match exit). Ferrer maximum is 8380 (he'd have to win Madrid and Rome.. let's be honest, that's not happening) and Nadal's is 6895 if he wins both titles.

Live rankings for those among us who aren't fussed with the mathematics and just want to see it in simple form Wink

Still a fairly good chance of Nadal making #4 before French Open as well. Would need to win both Madrid and Rome, but given his only real challenger (Djokovic) is seemingly not 100% right now, that's certainly a good possibility. Note: possibility, I'm definitely not ruling out Djokovic.

Should he achieve that, he would have 6895 points. Ferrer currently has 6830, and is defending 360 points in Rome. So it's definitely possible. Ferrer really need to make SFs here to strengthen his ranking.

Oh now that is AWESOME!!!!!! I turned off when it looked like Smugfed was coming back in the second. What a mistake!

I think I might just want Kei's babies! Bloody marvellous news, bless Kei's cotton socks!

Wonderful news now Andy surely will be no2 for RG and hopefully still at no2 for Wimbledon

I like Kei and often feel like he deserves to do better, so I'm glad to see him do well.  Thrilled to see Andy return to #2 and with a guaranteed (fairly) comfortable gap this time too.  wub

I don't see Andy losing #2 for the rest of the season, albeit once Nadal hits Wimbledon he can start gaining points again.

Nevertheless even Andy can improve, and a few big weeks on clay over the next 6 weeks could really see him making a dent on Nole at the top.  I am desperate for Andy to be drawn on Ferrer's side of the draw for RG, leaving Nole, Fed and Nadal to battle it out together.  Would be wonderful if this happened.

#1 is achievable for our Andy but he needs to raise his game a little over the course of the year.  In the big tournaments over the last year he has always been in the final if not the winner, but you can't get to the top with as many dips in masters series and 500 tournaments as he has had.

Congratulations to Kei  flowers on defeating a rusty Roger. I watched the match and Kei was strong and definately the better player in 1st set. Then he suffered an attack of Murrayitis in the 2nd and slumped considerably. Thought he'd lost the plot with the 2nd set 6 -1, however, Kei refocued and showed great composure in the 3rd.

Berdy will be very tough and I dont really fancy his chances there, should he beat Gilles. I expect a win tonight.

Murray has a shot here to get to the final. Berdych is off form, three sets against the big Pole, then a tough battle with Anderson, Tsonga has been below par but has faced two headcases and Wawa could lose to either Dimitrov or Tsonga in my opinion.
