Murray's Ranking

what happens to murrays ranking interms of french seeding if he plays

He'll be 2nd seed if he plays. None of Federer, Ferrer or Nadal can catch him this week, and seeding positions are based on next Monday's rankings.

Depending on how Federer and Ferrer do this week, Murray really needs to be making the QFs of the French to stay #2 for Wimbledon. If he is to miss Roland Garros, he could well find himself back down to #3 by Wimbledon if Federer can make the final (or win) here or in Paris.

Draw has opened up for Federer now as well this week, so wouldn't be surprised to see him make his first final of 2013 this week.

So I guess we all need to get behind all smugfed's opponents here and at RG (though I usually do anyway  Whistle)

I don't think I've ever wanted Nadal to win RG more lol. I still think Nadal will win Rome, Djokovic RG. I could live with that. Djokovic's ankle had just better be right, that's all.

Wimbledon seeding formula.

Posting this again here (was on "other players" thread I think) - but without my calculations, which weren't quite right!

While the men’s seedings are based on a very specific formula (ATP points + grass court points from the last 12 months + 75 percent of grass court points from the 12 months before that) the women’s criteria is less than clear. The committee simply uses the WTA rankings “except where in the opinion of the committee, a change is necessary to produce a balanced draw.” That’s an odd and seemingly unnecessarily disparate set of criteria.

For Andy not to be #2 after Roland Garros, Federer needs to make the final.

If he avoids both Berdych and Nadal (35% chance of this happening), is there anyone who can stop him doing just that?

Knowing his 'luck', he'll get Ferrer, Tipsarevic and Simon in his section.

^Don't care who he gets, I think he's unlikely to get to the final. Surely Rafa and Nole will be on opposite sides "if there's any justice in this world"....thomtoms? Wink
Berdych could take him out, heck even Ferrer could take him out shocking

I'm pretty sure Smugfed would also have to reach RG Final to be seeded 2 at Wimby - assuming the Olympics counts as part of the extra Grass court points.  How Andy does at Queens and how Smugfed does at Halle won't have much bearing other than for Andy to pull further ahead.

I would love that.

If Federer reaches the semis he could also be seeded 2nd, depending on his and Andy's performances in Halle and Queen's respectively.

Their grass points as it stands are:

Andy: 2490
Fed: 2720

Total points for Wimbledon seedings:

Andy: 10800
Fed: 10720

If Federer loses before the semis at RG, Andy will be the 2nd seed regardless. It might not be the worst thing to be seeded 3rd at Wimbledon though, in case Nadal is seeded 4th (has to win RG to have a chance).

I'd rather Andy face Nadal than Djokovic at Wimbledon, personally.

^ Andy is too much in awe of Rafa for my liking. His H2H is worse against him than any of the top 10.

Without a second thought.

Seriously getting tired of this massive Nadal hype because he's winning a few tournaments on clay. And yes, I'm more confident of Andy beating Nadal than Djokovic on grass.
