Face it, there's a lot of losing in tennis. There were 128 men in the singles and 127 of them lost.
And remember, Lendl didn't win his first slam until he was 24 and he got 8. Agassi was 22 and he finished with 8 as well. Players mature at different rates and Andy is showing a nice gradual upward curve - look at the year-end rankings. Hopefully, he'll peak just as the Swiss freak retures.
 Forza Andy sempre con te...

the boy done good but not good enough. He needed that third set. Fed just pounced on him in the service game at 5-3. I am absolutley choked. Just ran 6 miles and blurted some 4 letter words whilst running. Not in the mood for the footy today but how can i not go? GRRRRRR

Federer played well (unfortunately) and he did not let Andy settle into any sort of comfort zone. I am sure he will win a GS sometime this year but the British press should give him some space and take the pressure off especially during Wimbledon. Wish Federer would retire and give the rest a chance what else does he have to prove? Andy be patient your time will come

The Sun can go f**k itself. No doubt other papers will follow suit with their usual negative bashing. Why can't the British media get behind our sportsmen and women and give them a boost when they lose instead of bashing them down?

Just noticed that Sir Chris Hoy was in Andy's box.

As usual the red-tops will be exaggerating Andy's loss. He wasn't "sobbing" and imo he gave a brave speech. It must be so difficult for runners up - remember Federers absolutely agonised response after last year's AO?
Well done Andy. You did yourself proud all tournament.

I agree with this so much. They should appreciate how well he's done and should be looking forward to what he has now shown himself to be so capable of doing. (Does that sentance make sense.) After that tournament, I find myself believing that he is more capable than ever of winning a GS. Stupid press.

I do think that by 5-3 in the 3rd Andy was already hurting and Fed knew it. Sorry to say it but I think the thigh was a bigger problem than he was trying to show. I am not making exuses but did Andy really believe at that point that he was going to be able to take it to 5? Psychologically it must have been a huge downer for him.

There was no thigh problem apparently. Just tight bicycle shorts.
