There's some beautiful lines in that piece. It's verging on the poetic, I was quite moved, although the phrases are slightly threatening to become cliches. He captures the moment really well when you first realise something. The line about a lover's head on your pillow realising things have changed, there's no going back and no desire to is quite poignant. Poetry's about capturing the moment, and it's a tribute to the times that a writer can turn a sports article into a poem or meditation.
