The draw is random within each grouping.

At the semis, 1 vs 3/4, 2 vs 3/4
At the quarters 1 vs 5/6/7/8, 2 vs 5/6/7/8
At R16, 1 vs 13/14/15/16

and so on.

Daveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeed Ferrer is also doubtful for Toronto with an Elbow injury.

If he pulls out, Murray gets boosted to 7th seed.

Rafa will turn up at the US Open having extended his break and we will find that there is nothing wrong with his wrist or his knees.
I see that there are more cynics out there! I wonder if others on the circuit already expected or knew this would happen. Probably did.
It didn't come as much of a surprise to me - and I'm now expecting Nigel to wade in with his long-held theory on the matter! Whistle

Nice to see Kyrgios get the WC he so deserved.
I was very pleased to learn that too.  Should be interesting to see how far he goes into the tournament.

I'm sorry in a way that Andy does not have to play Round one I hoped doing that might wake him up to the current situation of his current ranking position
bb I'm sure Andy is well aware of the implications of his current ranking situation.  However, I think it might have been to his advantage to play in the first round so he can play himself in as I think the other players around him in the rankings have all  played since Wimbledon I seem to remember reading?

Not all of them Ruthie.   Fed never bothers, and neither do Djokovic or Nadal (although he's pulled out of this anyway).  Dimitrov though was due to play Washington but withdrew citing a bout of flu.  Wawrinka hasn't played either.  He was scheduled to play in the Swiss Open in Gstaad but withdrew saying that 'he reluctantly pleaded mental fatigue after his loss in the Wimbledon quarter-finals to former Gstaad headliner Roger Federer.' @Aileen - ah hadn't realised that others had been falling by the wayside.    But I was discounting those well above him in the rankings at present.
Hmm can just imagine the brickbats Andy would have received had he pleaded mental fatigue having gone out early of a tournament weeks previously.

I was hoping Andy might play the opening round in Toronto, just to get a match under his belt. Oh well, the higher up the seedings he is, the better, so I'm not complaining.

Nadal's becoming as injury prone as Nishikori. Trouble is, I'm not inclined to be cynical about Nishikori. I feel for Nadal if he has genuinely injured himself, but I can't help thinking he's cried wolf just a bit too much.

I love Toronto. I just hope I'll see most of it. I'm having house guests at the wrong time!
