I am on holidays in the USA, and I am going to finish them in Toronto. The tickets for the QF day have long been booked, now it is up to Andy whether I have the chance to finally see him on my fifth try. To be honest, I am not overconfident about tomorrow's match with Kyrgios. Yes, he had a decent run at Wimbledon, yet is there anything else that speaks for him?

Hope you have a great holiday and fingers crossed you see Andy.

I think Andy wins in straight sets tomorrow.

I hope you do get that chance!  It's difficult to know what to say about Kyrgios because this is his first tournament too since Wimbledon, so no opportunity to make any real judgement.  He does though have a very strong and accurate serve, plus a powerful forehand.  However these brief highlights of his match against Giraldo should give you an idea as to just what he's capable of doing, provided he's allowed to - http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/9407889/giraldo-v-kyrgios-highlights

One thing though, Kyrgios isn't short of confidence, so isn't gong to be fazed by playing any of the top ten.  Fortunately I saw Andy being interviewed on TV tonight and he definitely looked and sounded like he means business.  He says he's feeling 100% fit now after his extra training in Miami, so, as he relies a lot on his fitness to give him confidence, hopefully he'll come out all guns blazing and keep it that way, although just what improvements Amelie might have made to his game remain to be seen.

Andy may start off slow (he was expecting to play a round 1 match), but I expect him to come through.  I also expect this thread to be nervous! lol

Did you watch the Kyrgios vs Giraldo match?  Kyrgios got off to a wobbly start but found more form as the match progressed, finally winning 7-6, 7-5.  Giraldo though didn't help his own cause by letting himself get frustrated, especially in the 1st set tiebreak.  Also not only does Kyrgios have a very good serve and a powerful FH but is capable of playing clever ground-strokes as well.  Needs to stop beating himself up so often though.

Andy should beat him, but I'd be feeling a bit happier if he too had a match under his belt, although he said in an interview today that he was now 100% physically fit thanks to his recent training in Miami, and if Andy feels good physically it usually gives him more confidence.

Andy in three for me, and he and Amelie will no doubt have worked out a tactical plan, which is why I was very pleased to see she was there watching the match.  The crowd might be behind Kyrgios, but that usually fires Andy up.
The lack of match experience is my big concern, as is Aileens. The Aussie has a super serve as does Andy, but it's not his biggest strength in his game compared to Raonic and Isner, to name just two. Post Wimbledon Andy  admitted he must start matches better and when he gets ahead he must stay ahead and not slip back.
Lets hope Amalie helps him to do improve these aspects, we've seen to many matches lost due to his up-and-down tendencies.

I voted for Andy in 3- anxious yes.... but i'm always backing Andy.

I know that there is a chance of Andy losing to this guy but the conquerers of Nadal at Wimbledon before have done nothing since.  I believe that Nadal did not play well at Wimby.   Good luck, Andy although you really do not need it as if you play as you usually do there should be no problem.

Well I guess I stand somewhere in the middle ground between the usual doom merchants and the 'piece of cake' brigade.  I'm always wary of saying any match will be a piece of cake - smacks too much of hubris and ignores the way any opponent can raise their game on the day.  Of course Andy is the better player but like Aileen I'd feel less nervous if Andy had one match under his belt.   Kyrgios has the fearless talent of the young guy charging up the ranks and we know how dangerous they can be.  If both of them start slowly the match might not get going properly for a few games (so I'm not too bothered that I'll probably miss the start as I'm out mid afternoon).    I liked the way K talked about Andy in his interview with Sky - suitably respectful of how great a player he is.   Now Andy it's up to you to show him that up close and personal.   This could be a good test for Amelie's tactical advice as I too was pleased to see she was watching K's last match.
I'll vote Andy in three.  Go Andy go  cmon yeah

i take kyrgios to beat the former top ten player in 2 sets sadly. also id like to know how exactly mauresm√∂ - a woman -  is going to improve his dreadful 2nd serve (wta standard at best).

Well its only a Masters and Im not convinced Andy can be @rsed with these mickey mouse events any more. Been there. Done that etc.

And until Andy actually beats a top ten player then what else can you expect? The jury remains out on Andy. Its up to him to change that. I really hope its this tournament but I'm not feeling it in my water. Im guessing he will ***** about here and at Cincinatti. He'll be looking at these events as practice tournaments for the biggie; the US Open. You know kind of leg stretching exercises.
If that were true, Andy wouldn't have entered! If he can be arsed enough to enter, that means he 'wants' to win! Whether he can or not, remains to be seen, but I know who my money's on......and it ain't the new boy!
