And this....

"I won't be the only one that's got niggles, but hopefully the worst of it's gone now. The next few months are very important to everybody this year. There's a lot of big tournaments coming up.
"One of the goals in that period is to stay injury free, because if I am then I'll hopefully play some good tennis and have some good results."

Scottsgreek, obviously you do not play ball sport. To make the remark that Andy has played badly is not on. He has had an injury you cannot play your best with an injury especially on clay it is impossible. I guess Andy might surprise us all. He has a comfortable draw and it is the best of five sets. he is fit.

These comments from Andy confirm what Ive believed. That is his back "problem" is trivial and has not affected his results. He would not be playing at all if there was a problem. Andy always has a fallow period sometime during the year and I hope that's it over for this year. I now want to see Grand Slam Andy and I'm backing him to reach the semi-finals again this year. He has a good draw and he'll be totally focussed, desperate to keep his fantastic run of Slam semi appearances going.

I know you all do not like Sampras except for Emma, but I thought you might be interested in an article where he talks about Andy:

Well we hope the worst of whatever it was has gone too.
If anybody's interested this is a link to a very brief interview with Andy's physio, Andy Ireland -

I definitely think our boy is in excellent hands.

It should be a breeze. Ito has found a little bit of form of late in the Asian challengers as the 2nd or 3rd seed (behind Yen-Hsun Lu and Go Soeda). He's barely faced anyone of a decent rank and tbh his rank is a bit higher than it should be due to the level of competition. He's not a clay-courter, at least not a specialist.
But the way Andy's been playing lately, who the hell knows. If he plays like has lately then there's all the chance in the world he could lose. The collapse against Gulbis having lead by two breaks is quite worrying, even if it was an exho.
I'm going to have to agree with Boogers though, can't see Andy getting past R4. That's at a push. His recent performances and injury problems just don't fill me with confidence whatsoever. Really hope he proves me wrong though.

I don't care what anyone says!!! I'm sticking with my prediction Andy to make the semis!!
I know Andy hasn't been playing his best but he usually is always prepared for GSlams!!. and usually makes the 2nd week 9 times out of ten.

I just hope Andy does not come on this site, as he might believe he should go home now. I'm pleased he has Lendl,Killer and others giving him confidence, as this will help him. He is happier with his back and from all accounts hitting really well. Forget the Gulbis match, he played some wonderful shots, but in the second set didn't run after some of the balls. Don't think he was trying to win. Has Del Po been written off as well?Interesting to read that Andy practised later at RG. So he must have been feeling fine.

I'm with you.Andy looks happy and relaxed which really bodes well. Jonathan Overand said Andy is relaxed and happy here in RG, he was a real grump in Rome.(like I am when in pain and not able to do what I want to.)
