Rome 2010
« on: April 24, 2010, 12:59 PM »
If Murray was in good form, having Tsonga as a QF opponent then either Djokovic with his current form or a Verdasco playing 13, possibly 14 matches in 3 weeks would be near perfect.
Unfortunately he isn't in good form, so the journeyman Clay courter he'll be playing in his first match will probably take him out before he gets there.
Will be facing Seppi or Fognini in the first round, both Italian's who've annoyed a Murray in decent form let alone the guy that's currently on court.

Nightmare.
Seppi or Fognini first, Ferrer in the 3rd round, Tsonga/Ferrero in the QF.

Hmm, Fognini was 5-0 up on Andy last year I seem to remember, before Andy turned it round.
Hoping he turns up this week.

I'm afraid that Seppi will be the opponent...

This is an extract from the home page of the Rome tournament
Quote
Murray too is struggling for form and as refreshingly open about it. “I’ve had a bad stretch,” he said of losing in the quarter-finals at Indian Wells and then crashing out at the first time of asking at both Miami and Monte Carlo without taking a set on either occasion. “My confidence isn’t as high as it was at the start of the year, but I’ve just had two bad tournaments, that’s all it is.”
The world No.5 sees the solution in the Scottish work ethic. “I needed to hit a lot of balls, so that’s what I’ve done. I practised from Friday to Friday and I did a lot of physical work which I hadn’t had the chance to do before. I worked a lot and I’m mentally stronger. I didn’t feel in the right rhythm on the courts so I wasn’t comfortable. If I spend a lot of time in the gym though and a lot of time on the courts, it helps me in matches. I’d obviously like to match and improve on what I did on clay last season, but getting through my first match is my goal here and we’ll take it from there,” said Murray, who up until that point was unaware that he and Djokovic are in the half of the draw which avoids Federer and Nadal. And perhaps they will end up meeting in the semi-finals, giving them both the boost they so badly need at the moment.

That was interesting, but why have we got two threads on the same topic?
