After a straight-forward  6-3 6-4 win over Russian bull dog Nikolay Davydenko, Spaniard and clay court specialist Marcel Granollers has the honour of facing third seed Andy Murray in the second round of the Rome Masters. Granollers has won three career titles, two on the clay courts of Houston in 2008 and Gstaad in 2011. The current H2H between Andy and Marcel stands at 2-0 where they met at the Australian Open in 2009 and on the clay in Barcelona back in 2006, where Andy edged through in 3 sets.

This match is most likely to take place Tuesday/Wednesday.

I wish Andy stopped facing pushers. The match ups are so boring when he does.

Marcel isn't really a pusher. He is aggressive with spin.

While Granollers is ranked 35 in singles, he's also no 4 in doubles, with 10 titles (4 in 2012, including WTF). He and his partner, Marc Lopez are defending champions in Rome.

He's #35? I thought he would be around 80 or something..

He'd have had to play qualifiers if he was ranked that low!

Love back to back events justs helps you move on so much quicker. Marcel is a good claycourter, very good. But I think Andy will have the better of him in straights. Is Ivan in Rome does anyone know?

Given Ivan's clay court credentials, I'm a bit surprised he's not at these Masters events.  But, what do I know?

I almost never feel the need for Lendl to be there in every singe match. Andy's a pretty smart player. He's certainly not going to win every single tourny he enters. He'll win only a few of them.
