This is Murray's best ever showing in Rome, right?
Interesting to hear him talking to one of the officials at the end there about the quality of the court.

The only match he'd get through before here was thanks to a Del Potro retirement in 2008.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Whatever the quality of the court, the fact is Andy was able to overcome any problems. He looked totally on top from the start. Aggression, tactics, shots, movement, were all there. Seppi may not be the best player around but Andy can take a lot of confidence from this win. Early days, but looks like Andy's found himself again.

It looked to me as though the guy was just asking Andy how the court was playing as they've enlarged the stadium considerably since last year.
I think Andy said something about a very low bounce but that it may have been just because it was the evening.

I find it off-putting the way the spectators on the Continent slow-handclap between points. A friend tells me it's a form of encouragement, not of displeasure as in Britain. Can anyone enlighten me?

Yeah I'd find it negative.
People do it at football to be negative as well.

I know for sure that is an encouragement for one player, in this case for Seppi. It happens on tennis court in Europe. I was afraid for the crowd but i haven't noticed anything negative, i'm right?

You're right. Nothing negative and the crowd was surprisingly small given that Seppi was playing. I think, as tennis fans, they definitely appreciated Andy's brilliant performance. Probably stunned them as much as it did us!
