After dismissing Frenchman Roger-Vasselin, Andy will face the unlikely Austrian qualifier Dominic Thiem, who defeated his highly ranked opponent Jarkko Nieminen. Thiem is ranked at a career high No. 113 in the world, and is a steady up and comer on the tour. Little is known about the 20 year old, but these two have never met before on the pro circuit so it is a new test for Andy.

New territory all round then. First set should be interesting, but I expect a straight forward victory for Andy.

I'm really quite keen to watch this Austrian 20 year old playing because I've never seen him play before.  He's got pretty good credentials - former Junior World No.2, beaten finalist in Boys' singles at RG in 2011, winner of the prestigious Orange Bowl the same year, and has won seven titles, 2 Challengers and 5 Futures - so definitely a player to keep an eye on.

Andy should win in straight sets, but, as so often happens, Thiem might play high risk tennis because he has nothing to lose, which could make for an interesting match.

Dom had a less illustrious junior career than Oli Golding (Thiem is 26 days older) but has moved on the professional circuit flawlessly. A real bright talent who should break the top 100 for the first time on the back of this tournament.

Never heard of Thiem, but I'd expect Andy to put him away simply enough.

Well Thiem will know Andy's game better than Andy knows his so could mean one of Andy's slow starts.
Re comedy option Bev:  we need some kind of system whereby more imaginative members of MW can add their own comedy option given Gangsta seems to have a monopoly on starting threads but refuses to offer his own comedy option.

Sounds good to me - how about the Von Trapp family burst onto court at first change of ends singing "Goodbye, Farewell" and whisk Dom off to bed?   Well, let's see you do better !

OH MY GOD! Please for the love of God, stop complaining about the comedy option. It's getting tedious now.
