Novak has a foot injury and has not played a single match this year. No idea about Malisse.

Excluding Novak and Malisse, I think Murray misses out seeding by around just one position! Keep fingers crossed that somebody withdraws.

Hmmm just checked the rankings and Murray is indeed the ninth ranked player.

HOWEVER, Karlovic has 15 points that he will not be defending this week, which would put him below Andy.

HOWEVER, I think the draw/seedings will be made before that takes effect.

So lets hope for a dropout for one of these:

Agassi
Hewitt
Blake
Hanescu
Karlovic
Robredo
Roddick
Tursunov

It would be awesome to see Andy seeded in an ATP tour event!

Ignore my "facts" about Karlovic above. Think those 15 points are for next week, not this week.

Surely no one should have points to defend this week with the Davis cup ties this weekend?

Exactly. Well except for people who entered challengers and whatnot.

Karlovic's points dont count. Seeding is done three days or so before the week ends.

No, he's played 3 times this year. YTD record 2-1, quarter-finalist at Delray Beach.

I hope people dont withdraw from the tournament because if say Andy does win it he wouldn't feel the same gladness than he would if he beat the top players. If you know what I mean.

And also the press will think he has had an easy ride.

regardless of the players who will be in the tournament, winning boosts confidence and that will great for murray.  He was extremely unlucky against Ljubicic and playing against lower seeds is good preparation for the French Open in late May.
