Not wanting to sound pessimistic, but I'm not sure Blake should be discounted so quickly. He's in great form at the moment and will be really tough for Andy to beat. If Andy were to beat JB that would be a huge win because James has been doing so well lately... I think Fish can be beaten as this is only his second match bacl after his long injury lay off, and with all the  problems he's had it may take a while for him to find his form. It's all great experience for Andy though, I just think he has a tough draw there.

I would agree with you Kate - the second round (if he gets that far) will be a tough one; blakes made a fantastic comeback - but like you say, its all great experience.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

well, like I said... blake=maybe. but there is no way he'll make it past robredo. robredo had some really good results last year and he is in the top 15 i think

Ljubicic was top5 yet Andy for a long time looked like he was going to win that match, Robredo is a possibility if Andy plays like he did in his last match.

i guess so, but robredo just seems to have a weird type of firepower. i think if andy can make him feel very helpless then maybe he could pull it off

So Andy is now the 6th highest ranked player in the draw.  two of the eight seeds have withdrawn and he is ranked above karlovic again.  Only people ranked higher than Andy in the draw are
Roddick
Hewitt
Robredo
Blake
Tursunov

Actually maybe not. Apparently Andre experienced severe pain in the gym yesterday evening or something, so I guess that's excusable.

I am back.

My Internet had a problem and I felt isolated for  the last few days. However here I am. MW's through and through.

I didn't know Andy was going to be playing doubles too, James Auckland is the British No.1 doubles player so it might be a good match, anyone know if they've teamed up before?

James asked Andy if they could play doubles together during the Aus Open, but Andy said no - presumably he didn't want any distractions from his singles and didn't want James to have to wait around to see if he'd play doubles....
