Second Part of the Year « on: July 06, 2014, 07:37 PM »

Okay Wimbledon is over, complete with it's highs and lows, we now move on to the second part of the tennis year, where Andy Murray has very few points to defend so what would everyone like to see:-

1.  Andy sorts out his back room team and they unite behind their Man
2.  Andy comes back playing like he did in the first week of Wimbledon
3.  Wins a tournament (I'd settle for either if the two Masters)
4.   A good showing in the USO
5.  Good Asian Swing
6.  Qualification for Year End Finals
7.  The press get off his case

Well 1-6 are feasible.

Selfishly since im going,  my first hope would be that Andy makes WTF Wink

Hoping he gets some confidence back so a tournament win (any tournament) would be helpful.

Would be nice after attending his good friend Ross Hutchins wedding he finally gets down on one knee to lovely Kim  Heart

Most of all I just hope hes happy.

Sounds fine to me but there are if's and but's to all. One item has been left out.  Some of my thoughts below.

1. His team need to be able to help make strategies to get him to win matches. Lendl had that skill. He came out to play Dimitrov without any obvious strategy evident to all. He played well in his first four games at Wimbledon partly because his opponents games were not strong enough to impose on Andy's.
2. He will.
3. Winning is essential even if it is in low grade events. It is addictive.
4. He needs to get to another slam semi at USO for his own self confidence. It would restore his performances to what he probably expects
5. At present he is scheduled only to play in Shanghai. He needs to enter four events and get to the final in as many as possible. Winning a couple would be the best tonic to his play for Aussie Open in 2015.
6. I doubt if that will be a problem. Ranked 7 at present.
7. The public can help with that. If he were to beat Novak and Roger somewhere then he would become their hero again and then I expect the press would suddenly change their attitude. The Press are mostly "changlings" that go with the flow for best sales figures.

ADD

8. Finally work on the serve extensively.

(My view is that he needs to employ his first service better and use nearly the same for his second serve. A contentious opinion I know but if a good player serves above 50% first serves then if he misses the first the second should go in? Why do players try to pat the ball over so slowly? Never understood that. I served flat out virtually all the time or had a side spin option to take a player out of position. Never see that much now. Perhaps the rackets are a factor? Raonic gets a lot of benefit from his confidence in his first serve and as a result serves one almost identical for the second with few double faults).

Sorry that is so long. I need to work on being more succinct?

Winning again would be nice. Sick of seeing unflattering pictures of Andy when he loses.

Take yourself of the forum then. Maybe that would help?

Yours and Rob's rivalry is hilarious. It will be a shame when it comes to an end in a Rob ban.

5.  Good Asian Swing
6.  Qualification for Year End Finals
7.  The press get off his case

Well 1-6 are feasible.

Love this - was thinking of something similar but hadn't thought of a title - then the final got interesting!

So...
1. Hopefully already sorted and we know this week (before I go my hols would be nice!)
2. Perfectly possible, the sooner the better please!
3.Oh yes, I'd like him to enter a tournament before the Masters and win that t give him a confidence boost. Masters will be tricky due to ranking but here's hoping.
4. Regaining his title would be the perfect tonic! Fed and Nole have their slams for the year - Andy's turn now!
5. Excited for the Asian swing, Andy usually does well and every win is points gained. And I love watching the weekend matches with my breakfast. Perfect!
6. Very achievable and do hope so as I'll be there - note to Andy - Im there for final round robin match and the 2 semis  #justsaying #aim high
7. Press will always write to sell stories. But there was genuine affection for Andy on c court even when he lost.

8. Be happy Andy on and off court.

1 would love Andy to win the USO, if he can't win it at least do really well.
2To win at least one of the masters 1000 this year. But winning or doing well in all of the tournaments for the rest of the year would be great
3To climb back up the rankings to at least number 4 or higher where he truly belongs is also important. He especially needs too improve his ranking this year.An improvement in his ranking will be a big help to him at the start of next year.
4Have no conflict or tension in his camp if that's what's been behind his shock loss at Wimbledon. He can do without that.
I hope that it works out well with Amelie if that's what he wants
