Shanghai R3: Murray vs Dolgopolov - Thu 11th Oct
« on: October 10, 2012, 12:34 PM »
Andy has struggled so far, having a tough time in getting to R3 but how will he now fare against Dolgopolov who came through 6-3, 6-4 against Simon?

Should hopefully be a fun match. For Anybody who wants to watch their previous one in the Brisbane Final I have put it below.
It looked like Dolgo was very unsafe of his safe that match, getting broken 5 times with break points in other games as well.

The Brisbane final was great for Andy. I saw it on Youtube a while back.
I think it's better for Andy to have had a walkover now, than to have played a round and then had a walkover in the third round. That could have disrupted his rhythm. There is always the issue of Dolgopolov having had a couple of matches already, but I think if the right Andy comes out he'll win.

Just seen that this match is not before 11am tomorrow UK time. Trouble with playing dolgo is that it messes up the rhythm for the next match because of the way he plays- assuming of course Andy wins. But it feels like a slightly weird time post-USO and as tj says dolgo has 2 matches under his belt whereas Andy will come cold to the conditions, so anything could happen I guess. But voted for Andy needless to say.

I remember Andy's match against Dolgo at the AO so well. I remember this year's Brisbane too of course. Tricky match but hey, Andy has dealt with him a few times already.

What Andy says in BBC interview:
"Whoever I play will have played two matches in these conditions. It may take a while for me to adjust."

Dolgo's been in terrible form recently - it would be typical though for him to play much better against Andy as so often happens. Should be a fun match to watch, I really like Dolgo's style. If Andy plays well he's the clear favourite in this, he's so much more consistent than Dolgo.

Dolgy is my favourite server. He's an interesting player to watch, but he's so up and down.

Ha ha. My lovely boy.Changed my mind, I said Andy in 2 but after this I think we'll get a 3 setter. 1st set to Dolly, but 2nd and 3rd to Andy.
6-3, 4-6, 3-6.
Sticking my neck out there aint I?

Typically good match I say. Good thing for Murray is he will be as fresh as anything because Dolgopolov has played 2 matches now and Murray has had that extra long rest which could sweep the woes of Tokyo off his back. What I think is Murray will secure his place in the QF's with a comprehensive victory because remember Murray is now more offensive and if Murray goes for his shots Dolgopolov is more likely to make the greater errors where as Murray will mix defensive and attacking play.
I'm so confident for Murray this week. I think he can defend his crown!

NOTE: Raonic is out so I see no big serving scares on the horizon anymore

Potentially Isner in the QFs if both players win their respective 3rd round ties tomorrow.
