Shanghai Rolex Masters Murray vs Tursunov

Quote

Once the nemesis of Tim Henman, Tursunov has had a rough time of late with injuries and loss of form. The Russian, who once gained a reputation as a witty blogger, battled past Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5 on Tuesday to set up the clash with Murray.

Murray is seeded two for this tournament and is looking for his third successive ATP title on the Asian hard-court swing. After stealing the title in Bangkok, the Scot thrashed Nadal in the final of the Japan Open for his 20th tour success. Murray's win-loss record for 2011 is 48-11 and he leads the 41st-ranked Tursunov 5-0 in head-to-heads.

[Insert nice ATP H2H graphic here] Sorry, ATP site is playing up right now...

Well Andy........I suppose I've got nothing 'new' to say to you today, 'coz all you have to do is play just like you did last week! You were amazing! Do you realise that you only gave away four points to Nadal in that last set? Four points.......Blimey! shocking You were on fire! Those four points were 'unforced errors' from you! Nadal didn't 'win' a single point from you.....not one! When you play like that, going for the big shots and giving it your 'all', there are 'always' going to be a few errors....right? The difference as I saw it, was, whereas in the past, you may have taken the 'negative' from those errors and carried them over, causing you to lose the next few points and with them, more than likely the next few games too, this time you didn't! This time, you just let them go.......blew them off.....left them in the trash and carried on regardless! If you got frustrated, instead of it working against you, you were able to turn it around and make it work for you, thereby, turning the negatives into positives! That, as I see it, is what made you [as Rafa said], unstoppable! With that attitude, I believe you have taken your game to a new level! Nearly time for your match against Tursunov...........Can you kick his ass Andy? 'Course you can! Good luck! Go get'im son! C'MON! cmon yeah

All that rugby been tiring you out Bev? Very Happy

From his Wikipedia - "Tursunov is an offensive baseliner with excellent groundstrokes from both sides and prefers to play on faster surfaces"

Hopefully Andy will have adjusted to the faster courts in Shanghai and that this is a nice warm-up for the rest of the tournament. cmon yeah

I haven't seen Tursunov play since 2008 - the guy has fallen off the radar completely.

2-1 Nadal.  Looking more like 2:30 now - or 3:00 if Nadal keeps up his prolonged ball-bouncing tactics!
