The whole point about Bangkok is so he won't be jetlagged in Shangai - though Andy he says it is also about becoming number 3!

On the ATP site they said abdominal strain, but Nole has said it was his back! I think the injury is more serious than is being let on, anything to do with the back can take a long time to recover. This good news for Andy as he will be#2 and won't meet Nadal until the final.

I think Fed has pulled out of the Asian tournaments cos he'd rather lose points through non-attendance than get thrashed by the other three. However, he'll have to face them in Paris and London, so he's probably just delaying the inevitable. Maybe he's pacing himself or buying time to try and work on new tactics to beat them. Either way he is aware that time is inevitably catching up with him. Sorry this is a bit off-topic.

Patsy maybe an off topic - but a very valid point you make - Fed always dismisses in one statement the rankings issue and says only being No. 1 is important to him but surely being No 3. makes it easier to get to No. 1 than if he slips down to No. 4.  I personally don;t think he will retain the WTF title this year.  I also think there may be more to Djoko's injury than he is letting on, we just have to hope that our Andy can keep himself fit and well and he will be there challenging for everything.  He seems to have a steely determination these days - he has given himself a challenge of getting to No. 3 before the year end (and we all know how much he loves a chellenge) and he is focused and determined to get there.  Come on Andy once you are No. 3 the only way is up.  There is such a huge gulf between the Top 4 and the chasing pack - the way Andy took the No. 5 player apart today was quite sensational.  Come on Andy

Hi
I agree I think you both have a valid point.
Andy certaintly has changed his whole being since Nole and Federer have said they are not playing in Shangai. this is a huge chance for Andy to get to No. 3 in the world. His serve is so much better and his whole attitude, well it is fantastic.

Just hope he has not got too tired playing Doubles  and reaching to the Finals as well.

Good Luck Andy,
Does anyone know his address in Surrey, I would love to send him something, I Live in Cyprus?
