The last time I recall such a tough early draw was in Shanghai last year. Facing Dolgopolov, Rad Step, Federer and Nole, and he nearly won the tournament. Its not all bad.

Yeah I think it can be a good thing, as Andy's forced to be sharp from the very first match. Hope he doesn't lose early now I've said that though!

Janowicz a serve bot? Hahahahaha. Funniest thing I have read all day. He's far from a serve bot.

Is any draw ever really easy?  Andy's struggled in the past with players he should have beaten comfortably but has produced the goods when faced with more challenging opponents because they make him raise his game and also keep his mind focussed, although admittedly that didn't happen against Delpo.  Hopefully though IW was little more than an temporary aberration in conditions that he wasn't comfortable with because there's no excuses to be made for Miami.

The serve definitely helps him out a lot though. But yeah, he does have more to his game than just a big serve. Love the slice he uses and his forehand can be devastating when on form.

Let's not panic guys. Andy's quite used to playing both Tomic, Dimitrov the youngsters in general. In fact, he enjoys it. They are not the trouble makers. In any case, Andy will have to deal with them more often than not going forward so better to accept it. Our problem would be Berdcyh so perhaps best to keep an eye on him.

Yeah the serve is a big part of his game, but he mainly makes massive use of it on clutch points. His game variety is great, fantastic drop shots, great forehand (when on) and an underrated backhand. I think he does need to work on his forehand though, as it's so flat, there isn't much room for error, and he often struggles with errors.

Yeah the forehand seems to either be really great or be very error-prone. I like his variety too, he's an interesting player to watch - some of the drop shots he did in Paris were amazing. Apart from Rotterdam and Auckland he's lived up to his seeding this year which is impressive - a dip in form after Paris would've been understandable.

Yup...no idea why people get their undies in a knot over a draw. If Andy cant beat whoever he is up against then he doesnt deserve to win....

to me it looks good.... it gives andy the opportunity to steadily improve his game to a level where he can have serious pop at the clay season.

No easy matches but its a great draw because DelPo is in the other half. Andy will reach the final.
