Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

The match is third on centre court on monday, since we're deeper into a tournament maybe a 6pm or 7pm is more likely then 5pm?
Hope it's not on too late.  On Saturday officials said any play under the roof would only continue until 10.30 pm.  Should be 11 pm but apparently locals complained about noise from equipment used to regulate air-conditioning and humidity (pathetic!) - and closing the roof means a 40 min break in play.

Excerpt from article on Andy by Brad Gilbert [Daily Mail Sat. 26 June]

My fellow Californians The Beach Boys used to sing of Good Vibrations and that is exactly what I have been feeling when it comes to Andy Murray's game over the first two rounds.

In what were, in my view, the best opening five days of a Grand Slam tournament that I have ever been part of, I have been really impressed with the way Andy has taken care of his business without any fuss. All around him there has been drama, but he has not been a part of it ...

... Confidence is bred by winning easily, and by the end of Andy's match against Jarkko Nieminen you could see it flowing back into him after a few of the struggles he has had this year.  He looks to be very positive in his head ...

... I picked up some of what I know to be encouraging signals about Andy. He has been more aggressive on his backhand return of serve and really hit his forehand with power from the centre of the court.

It looks to me like there has been a concerted decision within the Murray camp for him to be more pro-active, and he is certainly good enough to carry out that strategy.

I like it when I see him going for his serve and achieving a 63 per cent success rate on his first delivery, which he did against the Finn, and looking closely at his movement I thought it was razor sharp, showing no signs of any problem with his knee.

After the big "C'mon!" at the end of the match with Simon, I reckon Andy really has got the bit beneath his teeth.  Tough match, but Andy in 4. cmon yeah

I've been having those too and am very encouraged by the comments (above) of his former coach, Brad Gilbert, but Monday will be his first real test.

Murray beat nadal twice in grandslams Aus and US both were one offs not forgetting the times he beat them in previous years

Also didn't realises 6 victories against federer were one offs

The fact that he's done this before where he's had a good run in without loosing a set is why i think he can win this whole thing now he won't make the same mistakes as he did in previous grandslams

Now the tournament starts. Murray in 4 for me. I think the only player who can stop Murray reaching the final is Soderling but this will be a great warm-up.

Mark - that is the cutest cat in the world.

Thanks for the Bradspeak, Aileen - great stuff and I do hope he's right? Querry is full of confidence after Queens and his serve is phenominal so I've voted Andy in 4 but it could be 5. If he wins in straight sets then I might just begin to hope he will go all the way to the final, but I'm still not sure if this is his year.

So on Monday we are going to see the REAL VICTOR of the Queens tournament make his presence felt.

What a SHOW UP this is going to be.  I hope Queens' officials are going to be suitably apologetic and embarrassed.

This is going to make me pig-sick.

I can’t imagine how the spectators will be feeling, or what the commentators will be saying. They can hardly ignore it. It only happened two weeks ago.

And just to rub things in, the Simon match went on just as late as the Fish match!!

Listen guys, Andy MUST beat Uncle Sam - otherwise he will drop to No 6 ranking after W'don. Current state of play ( taking points to defend into account) shows Andy 140 pnts behind Soderling and 15 behind Davy. So even by getting through to the quarters he will still be dropping 1 place (if Soderling gets past Ferrer)

Looking at the way that Nadal played yesterday - I would put Soderling as the favourite to go through -  Federer cannot catch Rafa - but Djokovic can catch Federer, as he is only 340 points behind. In fact Soderling could be No2 if he wins it, and, Novak doesn't get to the semi's.

I know that during a Grand Slam future rankings are a little less significant but, they do matter! Andy has another 1360 points to defend before the USO and his seeding for that could be severley hampered - and that is the GS that he still feels he has most chance of winning first.

However, having said all that - he is playing quite brilliantly so far and as other posters have noted, this does seem to have a feeling of the Australian.

I'm with you on that one. Although I do now think that Soderling could go the whole way Think

I'm on my way down to London tomorrow - tickets for Tues & Wed - only thing is  that it's Centre on Tuesday (women  ranting) and No1 on Wed.
Don't suppose there is any way that Andy will be put on No.1 court for the 1/4's?

Soderling can be tough, but, Andy's on super-form.

When I visited Wimbledon I thought it was a waste of time tennis-wise. I was watching Hingis and I couldn't even recognize her from where I was sitting, she was so far away.

I like it up close and personal, as it is, on my 42" HD screen !! Smile  I can buy strawberries and cream from Sainsbury's and keep them in the fridge.  Smile

I think this match might have to make Andy work a bit harder, he's had it pretty easy so far!
