Andy has one San Jose and moved to 47th. Although most of these are obvious, I thought of compiling these-

1. 3 Brits in top 50. I dont know when was the last time this happened as the only Brits to have cracked 50 for quite a few years are Tim and Greg. Only other people with decent rankings were Jeremy Bates and Martin Lee I guess.

2. He is only 7 places from Brit number 1.

3. If he performs properly in the next two tournies, he may get his first seed as early as Miami Masters.

4. Now he can take part in any ATP event he wants barring the last two Masters. The cut off at some rare tour events are as  high as around 55 sometimes.

5. This one is most obvious--- Everyone in the tour respects him now. I guess he can stop the Fed Express within their next three meetings(An optimist I am Wink )

Well, we actually have three men with rankings in the forties. Oh, and you're forgetting the legendary Buster Mottram. I believe that, when John Lloyd eventually got his act together at the age of about 30, Mottram and Lloyd were both in the top 50. But I can't recall having 3 in the top 50.

Hope so. Keep an eye on the two Jamies as well. Could be an interesting 5 years for British (actually Scottish!) tennis!

He was the great hope of British tennis a couple of years back. Hopefully everythings starting to click for him now....
Would be great for Andy if there was another Brit in the top 100...

Mottram's career high was 15 I think but I dont think there has been three Brits in top 50 for quite quite some time.

He did make the US Open quarter-finals, though, in '85. Had a stack of talent and a serve like Hingis's younger sister.

Yep, he did. That was in his first incarnation, in his early 20s. Then he got stuck into Chris Evert and couldn't get out again at a time when he really should have been playing tennis. By the time all that was over, he was 30 and gave it one last shot, climbing into the top 30. Probably as much talent as Henman, but to say his application was questionable would be like saying Hitler's foreign policy was slightly unjust.
