hasnt he said hes not bothered about being british number 1 though? seem to remember that from somewhere.

that seems like it would fit into his mentality about not making wimbledon a priority.. pretty smart move i think

He said something like this, dont quote it as it is an approximation- I will not like it if I am ranked 70 and Tim and Greg are further behind, making me number one. It would be much better to be ranked 20 with Tim and Greg ahead.

Yeah he said British number one didn't mean anything to him. He said it was much more important to concentrate on his world ranking place. Arka's right he said that he would much rather be British number three and in the top 20 that number one and in the top 70. Shows a great deal of maturity I think.

but seeing as how andy has few points to defend, he might have no choice but to be british number 1!

I think Tim has points to defend this week, I cant see him winning his first round so he will drop. I believe Greg doesn't so unless he goes out early, Murray cant overtake him. It's possible Tim could be British number 3 by next week Neutral

I don't think he'll be bothered that he is. Just that he doesn't think it means anything in the long run. Same idea as his attitude to Wimbledon. Like he said, he could draw Fed first round a go out, he could get a straightforward draw and make the finals. It's entirely dependent on the seeding and the luck of the draw. Just as long as his tennis is improving...

I think it will hard to win in Memphis but I have complete faith in Andy's ability and stamina and composure now. Anything is possible, but I dont want to put pressure on him. The press will do that for us

And he has jumped to 21 in the Race. goodjob

If he does well in Memphis and Vegas (>QF) then I think he has a chance
