Anyway, I am pretty glad Andy's playing tomorrow night as we are being civilized the whole afternoon tomorrow (etiquette training), so was really hoping and wishing that they would put Andy tomorrow night session and ...voila! Would have liked it though if it had been the first match but can't complain, really.

Coming back to Dodig again, he made big news last year after taking Nada outl in Montreal in the 3rd round. While I don't think Nadal put all his heart into that match, he did play as well as he could. It was a great match in fact if anyone remembers.

I am pleased Andy's playing the night session too, as I'll be able to watch it. And yes, I remember Dodig played a fantastic match  versus Rafa last year - one of those times when a player gets in the zone. But I agree that Rafa wasn't fully at his best either.

I am sure Andy will come to court tomorrow with all of this in mind and play his best tennis, full of lots of variety. He hit a lot of winners in his last match - just needs to serve better and cut back on errors.

Andy has put in some brilliant performances at the night matches on Ashe - Wawrinka, Lopez the ones that stand out the most.

Great that he is on this side of the draw, hopefully there's no weather mishap, but if there is, Andy should be well placed this time, unlike last year.

Murray in a convincing straight sets win, he'll want to put on a show.

I saw the Sky interview with Dodig and thought he looked and sounded a great guy.  He clearly didn't want to talk about where he'd been sleeping rough but the wretched croft kept pushing him.  But much as I liked him I'm afraid I hope his USO run comes to a short and sweet (for Andy) end.  Reading about the match in today's press sounds like Andy is v respectful of him and of what he has gone through in order to be able to play tennis.

Bev many thanks for the H2H.

However, isn't it about time that the ATP website be updated to show Andy's birth place as Glasgow, Scotland and not Dunblane? I do understand the emotional aspect always tends to have Dunblane quoted although erroneously.

Apparently delpo and nalby nearly came to blows after a davis cup match and haven't played each other since so it could have been an interesting match had it happened

Just learned last night about expletives.....still not clear
We were talking 'swear words' Apollo. I would have thought that was clear enough if you'd read the previous posts!

'Focus' is neither profane nor obscene.  In this instance it certainly did have an independent meaning and was not used to fill out a sentence or metrical line.  By your definition, therefore Apollo, it cannot be classed as an expletive.
Exactly......Thank you Alis!

In fact, it is pure madness to get up in the middle of the night to watch tennis. But I'm sure I will not be able to sleep properly when Andy is playing. So I always tend to wake up spontaneously and then switch on the telly automatically. About the match: Andy will certainly play much better after his usual first round nervousness. Against Bogo he showed some really brilliant shots played with aggression and/or finesse. I liked that. Normally you do not see the lower ranked players so often over a complete match. But the density in men's tennis is enormous (see Bogo's solid ground strokes). And their ranking often does not tell the story: Dodig performed quite well last year as far as I remember. I did not notice that he had climbed down beyond No. 100. So he is actually capable of producing strong tennis. Look what has happened to Haas (although I know it is a taboo name) who started from a low position in spring and is now a serious competitor. Some even see him as a secret favourite.
So I'm looking forward to seeing Andy point to heaven in the early morning hours.
