Their match at the AO in 2010 was a tight, nervy affair. I would expect something similar, maybe something like 7-6 6-4 7-5 to Murray.

I really don't care in how many sets, I just want an Andy Murray victory.

Depends on the start time as Isner has had a pretty hard match against Simon. Agree with Sir Panda it could be a nervy affair and we may have a five setter.  Does it really matter given the advantage those playing in the bottom half of the draw have gained.  Always in Andy's corner-fingers crossed.

So, Andy is on tomorrow again? Isner had an exhausting match against Simon today, so that should be in Andy's favor. I thought Simon was the better player and deserved to progress, but the serving saved Isner. Taking in to consideration that Andy is one of the top returners in the game, there should be a few breaks and Andy shouldn't have problems on his service games, but he needs to improve the first serve %, cause it wa pretty bad today.

I guess we'll see the usual Murray tactics against the likes of Isner, Lopez or Karlovic - take a bit of pace off the serve, keep the percentage high, rely upon their inability to return well, and concentrate more on breaking serve.

As long as he stays patient, Murray should be fine.

Isner who wins so many matches because of his serve is playing against the player at the top of the 1st serve return point wins (37%). This should be an easy win for Andy.

The performance against Young was not particularly great especially on Andy's serve, but guess what, he won in straight sets and sometimes you have to win ugly and he did - the concern some people voiced about it going to 4 or 5 sets did baffle me to be completely honest, he isn't an ex no.2 in the world for no reason!

Isner is a one dimensional player, tall guy, huge serve. Andy deals with players like him particularly well, his game is suited for the challenge of Isner, and I do not see an upset on the cards, expect a straight sets win from him again. 4 maybe if Isner serves amazingly well and it comes down to a tie break.

Roll on Rafa in the semi's please.....

Andy on 1st tom 12 here 5pm uk time. In a way good because Isner is tired but we all know how much our boy likes the early starts? He will be fine though and I expect him to go under 2hrs and then hopefully be fresh for Mr. Nadal and play on a par with 2008. Go on my son!!!!!

I don't remember being that nervous watching it - perhaps the 1st set but then I began to relax - nothing was going to happen untoward on my watch Very Happy

Andy should win but i'm expecting it to be in 4 or 5 sets, Andy was very vulnerable on his serve in the second set against Young, one slack service game can be fatal against Isner so I'm bracing myself for a bumpy ride! Here's hoping the extra practise he said he would do on his serve will do the trick. Great to see those Mark Pechey interviews, I've never seen Andy looking so relaxed and happy at a slam, I'm starting to get a good feeling about this..

H2H stats, though we also know (and forgot) that Andy played Isner at the Hopman Cup this year, winning 6-4 6-2.

Andy did pretty well with yesterday's 11 am start!  Match is on Arthur Ashe.

Rain stopped Fed/Tsonga match, which is now back on track and Fed has just taken 1st set 6-4, but the forecast for morning/afternoon is looking fairly promising, although disruption is a possibility.

Sun and clouds mixed with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon. Warm. High 84F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Given the timing of this match, the heat plus the humidity could well be a factor, especially if Isner is tired after his very tough four-setter yesterday.
