So Andy due to play in AA Stadium. 2nd on court with play not to start before 1 pm local time, 6 pm UK time and 5 am NZ time.  Should start pretty much on time do we think?  WTA match beforehand.
Well the women only play the best of 3 (something I have to keep reminding myself in Slams), so unless it goes to three long sets, then it should start pretty around 6 pm.

I'm not too bothered about Andy not starting until today - at least it's a fairly early match, even if it is in the hottest part of the day AGAIN grr but more time afterwards to recover.

Andy's take on the match (from a USTA interview) -

Q.  What are your thoughts on Devvarman?

ANDY MURRAY:  I know him a bit, and Danny knows him well because he played the same age in college and played a few times, played a few times against each other in college.  So Danny knows him well. I have seen him play a few matches and he's solid.  Kind of does everything pretty well.  Very good attitude, very positive. So he's gonna be solid.  He's not going to give me anything, so I need to play well
.

Right, Andy - you know your man, so GO, GO, GO! clapping

Please - I'm tearing my hair out trying to find a working free livestream.  I normally use LiveScoreHunter but can't access it (site may have crashed).  Tried bet365, but it's linked to LSH and adthe.net has been closed down.

I don't know, Aileen, but it might be that you are way too early.  Try in 13 or 14 hrs for Andy's game.  You might try sportlemon.com or is it sportslemon. Another one is fromsportcom.com which actually might take you to sportlemon.

I tried them earlier this evening when play was still in progress because I was quite keen to see Nadal's match (which he won in 3, with a bit of a struggle).  Will try your links tomorrow after play has started.  Thanks. Smile

Also, just realized they are still playing now - if you want to watch Serena etc live now on lemon and it's sportlemon.tv/   Almost over 6-1, 5-1. Serena

Thanks again.  Actually I just tried LSH once more and it was perfectly OK.  I suspect the site was overloaded earlier.  Hopefully with Andy's match being on in the early afternoon, the site will be working fine.  However have noted the link to sportlemon.tv.

OK Andy! As I said to you at the start of Cinnci, don't look any further ahead than your next match! You know, and we know too, that you can beat every one that you will come up against, but you don't have to beat them all together, so put them out of your mind and just concentrate on that first match! Every epic journey begins with just one step!......Only one!......Devvarman is your first step.......Can you take him?.......'Course you can! Good luck Andy! hug ........Go get'im son! C'MON!  cmon yeah

Lovely words Caz!

From the US Open official site:-

Part of Matt Cronin's picks of the day:-

4- ANDY MURRAY VS SOMDEV DEVVARMAN

I just cannot get my head around what Andy Murray is going to do at this tournament. I know what he is capable of doing - winning it- but he's become such a hard man to read. He is not the complete player that Novak Djokovic is. Murray’s second serve is really lacking in speed, spin and placement, and his forehand, while improved, still isn't that forceful crosscourt or down the line. I've always like how well he reads the court, he has one of the best, if not the best, two-handed backhands in the world, is a terrific returner and competent volleyer, but mentally, he's still suspect.

Devvarman started the year off in fine fashion, but has really slid since the spring. He's a fairly consistent all-around player, but may not have enough overall talent to make it much past the top 65, where he sits now. A former All-American at the University of Virginia, he has made substantial progress since turning pro three years ago, so maybe his upside is greater than I think it is. However, it is rare to see a confident Murray lose to a player on hard courts who cannot blow him off the court, and the Scot seems to be keeping his chin up now. Murray has yet to win a set in the three Grand Slam finals he reached, including his 2008 loss to Roger Federer in New York, but he does just fine getting to those stages and calls the US Open his favorite tournament. Unless he walks on court in a complete fog, he'll come through is straight sets.

Thanks for posting Bev.  Of course we have to remember that although Devvarman is Indian he plays in the US so may get home support from the locals.
Well Andy now is the time to dispel both the fog and the kind of doubts voiced by Cronin. Go for it.  We know you can do it.  As Cronin says, you are capable of winning it.  You need to truly truly believe that deep down and not allow yourself to be jinxed by playing in the same era as 2 GOATS.  You are better than Nole but Nole has that self belief  and confidence now.  Please just believe in yourself like we believe in you.  pray  cmon yeah
