USO R3 : Murray v Lopez

Quote

Not looking any further ahead than this match after tonight's dramarama.

Murray usually does well against Feli to be honest, I can't see what Lopez can do differently in terms of gameplan. He would need to serve like Sampras and volley like Edberg to beat Murray.

Murray in three.

Yes I think Andy can recover ok.  It wasn't that long a match as GS matches go.  And he has a day to get over the mental strain.  If he does win, his bit of the draw has opened up with defeat of stan the man.  And as comms were pointing out his potential QF opponent will have had to come through at least one v tough match.  Trouble is it's sometimes when the draw opens up that Andy falls at the hurdle.  Still despite playing so badly for so long today he must take heart from his ability to turn it round and then not allow Haase to do so completely in the final set.

Straight sets annihilation. Simple as that.

Isn't Andy due a retirement? Whistle Rafa and Novak have been a tad lucky, to say the least.

We'll see a more confident Andy against Lopez. It can only be character building when you win a match where originally you were 2 sets down.

Yeah it would be nice if he got a lucky break somewhere before the Semis.

Hope Bev makes us a nice H2H. She never let us down yet!
Myself, well I'm still recovering from last night. Everything was spinning in my head after that match and I couldnt switch off.

Still cant believe he was victorious in the end. It must say a lot about his ability. We wont have the same situation tomorrow with Deli.

We used to get to dinner with friends .... casting a glance at the match at two sets to 0 to Haase, I received a blow, I felt the wind of defeat in the second round, I then watched the fifth set and I'm  not all convinced .... If I am more confident on the outcome of the match against Lopez, I think Andy has to seriously call into question its strategy for  next matches seriously and raise their level of play ... Andy was really wrong not to choose coatch to set up a game forward .... Roger  RASHEED  could be the good one.

Tennis marred by too amateurish to win a Grand Slam title.
Must be strongly Andy and his current team has to challenging soon.

Has anyone heard about Andy being asked to be Novak Djokovic's best man??

False rumour stirred up by the press. Andy denied it in an interview with Mark Petchey yesterday.

I totally disagree with everything you have written. When Nadal played against Haase in Wimbledon it went to 5 sets and Nadal had to dig deep to come through. And guess what Nadal went onto win the title! Also cast your mind to 2 yrs ago at Wimbledon in the first round when Federer went to 5 sets against a competitor who hadn't won much, and nearly went out. It happens when a lower ranked player comes out with all guns blazing and plays out of their skins, while the likes of the top 4 suffer from nerves.

Our Andy will have just too much for Feliciano, even when not playing well. He'll be more relaxed tomorrow (won't be as nervous - i attribute this to the fact he was very weary of Haas's threat considering he'd taken Rafa to five sets last year), he knows Felicianos game and so will know what to expect.  cmon yeah

I think that Lopez should not be too much of a problem for Andy. My principle concern is the strong possibility that Andy may be opposed by Donald Young.

Having watched Young's impessed defeat of Wawrinka. With Andy knowing that he has already lost to Young very badly, I believe that AM will have to change his game plan to overcome Young if he has to meet him in the round after Lopez. Young is a vey strong young man and an accurate base-liner. Long rallies suits Young very well as do drop shots. Coupled with the rather vociferous US supporters, which will almost certainly get up Andy's nose.

It's up to Andy but he can overcome Young as long as can maintain his level of concentration at a high level.

Incidentally, if the match-up is to between AM and DY, I am certain that it will be a late night performance, ie. early Monday morning.
