I would put in Tennis's constant need to declare someone the next Grand Slam Champion based on one good Tournament.

Most young players Grigor,  Jerzy, Bernie ,Milos and Kei are given this unfair hype when they are just trying to make a good move up the rankings never mind beat the top 4.

I do actually love that whole stretch - esp last year with Olympics - it's just that those 6 weeks signal the closeness/ start of school holidays - when  the US hardcourt season starts it means my hols are ending.

Even worse is the way they get ripped to shreds when they don't win a major. At the end of the day there are 1000s of pro players - 4 max can win a slam in any one year. Some reporters need a few wee lessons in probability!

I love spring so I like everything starting from March until the end of December. The month I hate the most is January. I don't like Feb either but at least it's not too long.

I didn't use to like the clay-court season much either, but having watched some of the matches in Chile, Brazil and Mexico and really been able to pay attention to how the clay-court specialists play because there's been no Andy or other distraction, I've become much more appreciative of that surface, so I'm looking forward to it this year.

Do you mean only the recent tournaments? I've been watching clay for ages now...since the mid-90s in fact, and I still can't warm up to it. In fact, I stopped following RG for the most part and all other clay tournaments from 2004 to 2007, because it then became so predictable for me with Nadal winning most of the titles and Federer coming in close 2nd etc. It just it didn't leave any interest out there for the likes of us. Not that the outcome has changed all that much since then, but with the rise of Andy, Nole and some others (Soderling, Del Potro etc.), I am now a bit more keen than before. But still, I wait for this season to be over asap. I do enjoy some of the matches, I am not gonna lie to you, but only if it involves not so much sliding and stuff. In my mind, when you have to slide on a court to get to a ball, it’s no longer tennis for me, but that’s just my opinion of the kind of tennis I think it should be.

Now that I've thought about it - Andrew Castle who insists on calling Andy 'Andrew' and compared him to an alchopop.
