Thanks Topspin. These statistics reveal quite clearly that Andy is at the top of his game and among the best, if not already the best
.

I haven't looked at the ATP stats for a while, made me proud.

It's a cracking tune and I can see what they were going for in terms of the 'British sound', but it's shockingly bad research!

It's by Haydn... It is the tune to Deutschlanlied (no longer the national anthem, but the one everyone remembers) but is also used as a tune for various English hymns and songs including "Glorious things of thee are spoken" by John Newton. The last verse is lovely...
"Savior, if of Zion’s city,
I through grace a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in Thy Name.
Fading is the worldling’s pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show;
Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zion’s children know."
Interestingly, Deutschlandlied was heavily criticised for being too nationalistic, and yet it was one of those rare national anthems that didn't mention war or the crushing of enemies!

Apologies - the tune is still the national anthem - they just only use the third verse

When did it stop being the German anthem, Charlie? I'm sure they were still singing it before German football internationals only a few months back.
I just watched the ESPN highlights of the Wawrinka match that come up after that original video - I like the way the Americans present tennis, far more modern and they make it much cooler. Sky do the same I guess. Much better than the stuffy BBC and the 'tradition' that they like to shove down our throats. They could do worse than to look at the Americans, as it would surely improve the image of the sport in this country.

See my post above, Joe - sorry for the misinformation... Of course I could have just gone back and edit my post like some people we know (
marky-boy
) but I am humble enough to accept my own fallibility

Thanks Mark. I enjoyed that short report on Andy. I didn't realise that even the Queen sent him fan mails. Wow. Imagine Andy getting a knighthood after winning Wimbledon. Now I need to work out which one he will get, OBE, MBE, Sir Murray, ...

"Andy Murray has apparently donated the Fred Perry kit used this year to Wimbledon’s museum, further suggesting that by this time in 12 months he will be kitted out by a larger company on a multiyear, megabucks deal."
Bet of the week
...One company was talking of building a shrine to Andy Roddick for saving them a huge
payout on a British winner. Andy Murray is 5-2 to win Wimbledon 2010 and an all-Williams final is 3-1.

How on earth does that suggest a change of sponsorship is going to happen?
