Wimbledon F: Andy Murray vs Novak Djokovic

Quote

No matter how I look at this match I can't see Andy winning it. Joker was flawless until the semis and then he withstood an absolute barrage of incredible forehands over 5 sets from Delpo.

If you "can't see" Andy winning this you shouldn't be on this forum, bud.

From the USA to Oz, all over the world you roam
But now your feet are firmly on the Green, Green Grass of Home
One more match is all that stands between you and your dream
We at Murrays World believe that you will reign supreme.

The only thing you need to do before you take the reign
Is send the man fae Serbia 'home tae think again'
Here at Murraysworld in you we emotionally invest
Because long ago we knew you were going to be the best.

Current US Open Champion and holder of Olympic Gold
This is a different Andy Murray, full of belief and bold
'Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man'
We all believe that Andy can....

So come Sunday evening there will be tears
But this time tears of Joy
As the Wimbledon crown is held aloft
Quite simply by the DUNBLANE BOY.....

#always believe

Good Luck Andy you deserve to do this

What gives me confidence is how Andy usually wins their matches in faster conditions, while Novak wins in slower conditions (with a few exceptions). Andy's also the more natural grass court player, especially at the net (though Novak's improved a lot there too).

Novak's going to face a very different type of opponent to Delpo. Andy has many more skills that he can use to hopefully disrupt Novak's rhythm - his slice backhand is going to be a useful shot tomorrow. And the crowd support may be important as Novak seems to hate it when crowds are firmly against him.

Brilliant poem Murray Magic!  clap clap

Great support out there for Andy now!  How things have changed. People passing comments in the supermarket about this great guy! The photo on the Telegraph has been commented on by many this morning as he can smile, and as we long term supporters know, also play super tennis without initiating gamesmanship tactics. That is what good guys do?  I wish him well for the final. Just hope that Novak does not repeat those antics of feigning tiredness or injury to try to disrupt Andy's concentration. All the so called top four except Andy do this. If Andy does it is far too subtle to notice?

Let us hope that both gives us a demonstration of top class tennis as Delpo did yesterday. Jerzy was definitely not in the same class. His basic skills need a lot of work still. Good placement of serves and shots by Andy became winners which against a very good player would not have happened.  I am apprehensive about success for Andy in the final but always am especially if he is playing Novak. I think he can win.

Great poem MM

I'd love to see Andy arrive on court, escorted in by a lone piper in full highland dress, playing "Flower of Scotland", with the whole crowd accompanying in full voice, both Scots and our English cousins alike.  We Scots are generous souls and are happy to share our hero with the rest of Britain!

Truly, "When will we see your like again?"

Andy, let's send him homeward, to think again.

I was hoping it would be windy but it looks like its going to be sunny and calm tomorrow. Agree Andy needs to try to get to the net more. If he trades baseline rallies with Joker he will lose eventually. Joker can outlast anyone doing that. Perhaps a slight chance that semi will have affected him  physically and mentally such that he is a few percent below par. And if Andy can raise his game a few percent then who knows but Im going for Joker in 4. Really hope I'm wrong but the gap between Joker and Andy at this wimbledon looks to me about the same as the gap between Andy and Berdych/Tsonga.
May I suggest you go to Specsavers.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the Berdych match? Tomas was 3-0 up in the 2nd set when he suddenly remembered he'd lost 13 times to Nole and was spraying UEs like they were going out of fashion. Nole just had to get the ball back.

BigNose's comments are always to be by-passed. An obvious troll, who pretends to be an AM supporter.

Go for it, Andy! This is your time.

Great poem MM. The sentiments are spot on.

There is a super photo of Andy on the front of the Telegraph this morning - throwing his wrist bands into the crowd. His face carries a super smile and I have never seen such a sparkle in his eyes. Oh how I want him to win on Sunday!

He was crap against Haas, Berdych and Del Potro, Berdych (as some have already noted, was 3-0 up on the second), but he also had a set point in the TB. Against Haas he also gave away a lead at 5-2 in the final set, to get it to a TB. In the Del Potro match, all that was giving him good form was his serve, in which he served 20+ aces and 1 DF. In the process, he hit 60+ unforced errors, which in a normal level ATP tournament match, Del Potro, hitting some of the winners he did, would have won the match. Nole's mental strength (similar to Andy's these past few matches) has gone through the roof, and he doesn't have a confident aura to him. This final is pretty even.
