I havent seen much of Delpo at all this event, but from what i've heard he's been mediocre and taken advantage of an easy draw. Mr consistancy Ferrer has been distinctly inconsistent this wimby layed some blinding set and some awful ones. One can't predict the outcome of this one plus add to the fact both players are injured, could be over in a hour due to retirement, or be a 4-5 setter staring nearer 5-6 so who knows!

My gut says Ferrer.

Such a comforting article. Rolling Eyes  I suppose though a bit of realism won't go amiss amongst all the usual Murray hype which, inevitably, seems to be worse than ever now.

my only real worry is Andy's back (even though I don't think we should underestimate a resurgent vadasco who is taking advice from rafa on how to beat andy).  We saw how it temporarily threw his game in the 2nd set against Y.  I just hope it was no more than a brief setback and that he has it under control again.

et tu bbh?    How about his back suddenly flares up again, having been good for last few weeks, and this affects him not just physically but psychologically, leading to that awful 2nd set slump?

Interesting article on BBC sport.

I don't really get all this hype about playing a left hander. I get that a left handed serve on the advantage court will drag Murray out really wide but surely a righty serve on the deuce court to a lefty would do the same?

Hi Nicky.....Welcome to MW! Re the hype about playing left handers! Yes, it's true that 'lefty's' could have problems playing 'rightys', but we have to remember that 'leftys' get to play against 'rightys' all the time, so are much more used to it!  yes

Good point, seen a quote from Andy saying he grew up playing against his brother who is a lefty so hopefully that will help. If there's anyone who would be good at returning the wide serve and getting back into position quickly it's Murray!

Very Happy well I'd rather he did it now than for the final, if he has to do it at all!  Comes across as something of the kiss of death at that late stage ...

Yes.....and he must have practised a fair bit with Nadal when they were younger as well, so that should stand him in good stead!  Very Happy
