Wimbledon R2: Andy Murray vs. Yen-Hsun Lu

Quote

Murray, who saw off Becker in emphatic style, will next play Lu of Taipei who defeated James Ward in a match of dodgy calls and missed opportunities. Murray has played Lu twice, at the Olympics in '08 and Indian Wells this year. This match will be played on Wednesday.

Well, one win each then in the H2H for this pair-up, but I think we all know what happened to Andy in 2008.
Still, best to keep focused and  get rid of him quick.

Good lad Gangsta, for starting the thread and poll.

Lu has nothing to threaten Andy with.  I'm so relaxed about this match I'm horizontal.  Mahut - now that's a more difficult match coming up Friday (hopefully it'll be Robredo).

This is the most relaxed i have ever been about Wimbledon throughout the Andy years!!!

Bev, are you preparing the H2H for the 2nd round?

careful all you horizontally relaxed folk - we don't want our pride in Andy to go before a fall.  Makes me  nervous  I know things are looking good but anything can happen in tennis, as we saw yesterday.  All those pundits predicting Raf would be champion now have egg all over their faces.

Andy should have an easy win here but I'm a little concerned about a possible match up with Mahut again in the 3rd round. He is improving all the time on grass, he had a good tournament in Holland beating Stan in strait sets, hopefully he will stumble against Robredo in 2nd round.

I know what your saying Ruthie. I think our pride in Andy is through the roof at the moment after that great documentary, the way he is playing. We must take a moment to remember how he can shred our nerves to Quantum string on occasions!!!

I'm quietly optimistic about Andy. He's playing well, moving well, he looks fit. I think he looks as good as he has all year, and far better than he looked on the clay.

Lu has nothing to tax Andy with. Mahut is a fine grass courter, as we all know, but in a best of five I'd favour Andy. I don't think the odd test will do him any harm at all, providing he wins handily enough. Instinct tells me that Mahut won't go five sets with Andy. Before anyone mentions Isner, I know about that, but Andy is better than Isner.

Your right Teejay. A good testing match will do Andy the world of good before it starts to get ugly. Providing he comes through it that is!!
