Wimbledon QF - Murray vs Ferrero
« on: June 29, 2009, 11:41 PM »
That's right folks, another match to writhe through.
Andy dispatched of JCF comfortably at Queens Club, but this will be a tougher match, Andy seemed emotionally drained in his interview, hope he rests up and just hits serves tomorrow.
Andy in 4 sets, Ferrero is playing well enough to grab a set.

Nope, i'm hoping to see a newer and more hungry Andy on Wednesday. This was his wobble moment. He struggled against Melzer and was drained middle Saturday at US Open and he came out and dismantled Stan and Del Potro. More of the same please!

I agree. I can't see Andy starting as tentatively or serving as poorly against Ferrero. Andy seemed quite nervous today - must have spent too much time reading the hype and hysteria in the Sunday papers!
I think he'll have learned his lesson and will come out with 100% focus on Wednesday.
No messing this time - Andy in 3.

Ferrero in 3. If Murray was that nervous about a fourth round match, he's going to be paralysed with fear in the QF...

Ferrero is a former #1 and Andy plays his best against guys who've won slams and been #1. Every player he'll face now leading up to the final has been #1 and won at least one slam.
Straight sets win for me and also I think they'll have the match on earlier, 2nd match on after Federer. Andy to win 6-4, 6-4, 6-2
Boogers: Nerves come and go with a player, doesn't matter what the situation is. It could be the 1st round of Nottingham or the final of Wimbledon. Also, once you've experienced it, and won, it makes you much harder next time.
Andy has come through a lot of matches where he's been really nervous, and it's helped him no end in future matches and tournaments.

Wawrinka will be Murray's biggest challenge apart from the finals this year, Ferrero will not be a problem.
Last time was not due to nerves, it was just an off day with a fantastic opponent that didn't let Murray play his own game.

I hope you're right - and I'd forgotten the Melzer Wobble at the USO. Melzer was two points away from winning in straights, wasn't he?

I'm only afraid of him being tired mentally. As it's happened before, though, I'm sure that he and his team will be well aware of it and working today to make sure that he clears his head in time.

The on court i/v immediately after the match was a bit of a surprise to him and, let's face it, no-one can be surprised that he was a bit drained. There's a lot more emotion in our Andy than he ever reveals. I hope very much that he has recovered sufficiently to be on form - he has a good team around him, and Kim is obviously very good for him - not to mention his Mum - we'll have to hope he is encouraged by the battle and fighting fit.

6-4 6-3 6-2 to Muzzah. Then home for tea and cakes and two days rest before dismantling Roddick again

Murray to win but Ferrero might take a set.
I don't think Murray will be tired mentally or physically, he's got much sronger and more used to these types of matches over the past year or so.
He will have to up his 1st serve though, last night it was only an average of 55% throughout the match and despite winning he only hit 49 winners to 59 for Wawrinka

Jeez, I know you shouldn't wish your life away, but I wish the next 24 hours or so would fly past! Can't take the nervous tension of waiting for the next match!
