Wimbledon R3: Murray vs Ljubicic

Quote

These 2 have met 6 times before and it's even stevens at 3-3 in the H2H.  They have never played on another one grass (Ljubicic was ill during the 2007 Davis Cup Match)  Ljubicic had the last win, in China last year.

Came across this whilst checking out Ljubicic photos:-

In the 3 years and over 16,000 challenges, Hawk-Eye produced its worst error in the Murray vs Ljubicic
match at Indian Wells (2009), when a ball which was OUT was shown on the video screens to be IN.

Looks like Ljubicic hasn't been beyond the 3rd round at Wimbledon at all.

It will agree though, he's a slippery little critter!

Something for you to compare.

Ljubicic is an awful Slam player if it comes to that, but it shouldn't. Hopefully the roofs open, otherwise this could be an annoying match.

Hah, I remember that hawk eye challenge at IW! The ball came straight down from a great height, landed about 6 inches out and Murray challenged out of desperation - for hawk eye to call it in! Ljuby wasn't impressed...

Hmmm, Murray in 4.

Has anyone looked at the FedEx Reliability Zone for grass on the ATP World Tour site, very interesting, out of every player past and present Andy is in 10th place, Novak is down in 26th place, and out of the top 30 in that list Andy is the only person to have won a grass court title this year and is the only person not to have lost a match on grass this year, the majority of the people on the list don't play anymore but it's still good stats. hoping this is a good omen for the Wimby final  yay

Think this one will be surprisingly easy. I'm going for 6-4 6-2 6-2.

You've excelled yourself Bev with your H2H information here.  But when was that photo of IL taken I wonder - he looks very youthful compared with now!

I see this one going to 4/5 sets with Andy coming out on top in the end. Ljubicic is capable of some solid serving and a couple of sets could go to tie-breaks i think. Really pleased with Andy's serve so far, he will need to continue in that vein in this match as one break of serve either way could make the difference in each set here..

Andrew here (Sir P)

I am pleased to see Andy identify his shortcomings and seek to rectify them. I expect an improved performance in R3 and another straight sets win. Ljubicic is experienced and can serve big but he's poor on grass.

Federer has a tough test in R3 if he gets there - Nalbandian!
