I really, really fear for Murray. Gasquet is just destroying excellent grass court players like Bolelli and Giraldo. I mean, he's been up to his usual chokey antics at times, and Giraldo kept it fairly tight, but those guys are as good as anyone outside the top 4 on grass. Gasquet to win, something like 6-2, 6-1, 6-3.

Murray will up his game for this occasion, I'm sure he's well aware of Gasquet's form right now and will see him as a big challenge.

I'm sorry. I have never predicted a Murray defeat on here, but I'm going to have to break the habit of a lifetime. Gasquet is on fire and will win this 6-2 6-7 6-4 7-6.

I agree. Based on how Andy has played, I'm not optimistic.

Come on guys destroying Bolleli and Giraldo is one thing, but beating Andy at wimby is another.  I have only positive feelings about this match.

Gasquet must carry massive mental baggage now against Andy given how he lost the last two matches.  By contrast Murray must feel all he has to do is hang in there with him, and no matter how well Gasquet plays he will always win.

I expect Andy to up his level considerably.  This does look tricky, much trickier than Lopez or Kubot which would be fairly certain in the QF.  I just feel the last two matches will be a massive mental barrier for Gasquet.

Andy in 3 or 4 sets for me.

Riccardo Piatti, the Gasquet's and Ljubicic italian coach (he's coaching Gasquet with Grosjean) said he's optimistic about the match considering the Andy's defensive attitude: according to him, Gasquet will play very aggressively with great serve, flat and possibly more potent forehand, feet near the baseline....

Why do we unerestimate Andy so much? He is the no. 4 and clear favorite against Gasquet.
Gasquet can try and play aggressiveley, it ain't gonna change that much, he is going to be crushed. Wink

This is a tough one.  I want to see our Andy conserving his energy and focusing on his own game rather than going for broke on every point.  He is the most entertaining player out there but he very often runs himself ragged trying to win every point of the match rather than being more considered and playing within himself.  I've noticed the other top guns are very economical with their movement and effort, only jumping on shots they know they can realistically chase down.  Andy is so genuine and tries for everything, and while he sometimes benefits and wins impossible points, there are occasions when he needlessly tires himself out.  Monday will be baking hot and Andy needs to focus on protecting his own serve at all costs.  Hopefully he'll be able to break Gasquet early on in the sets and then protect his own serve, rather than playing spectacular lights-out tennis every time Gasquet is serving.

Hate to say it, but Andy needs to start playing good old bread-and-butter style tennis which will get the job done.  It seems all the pundits are licking their lips for this match, but as an Andy fan I just want the win.  We had all the drama we need, thank you very much, last night against Ljubicic.  Andy at Wimbledon grabs all the headlines, not because he is British, but because his matches are so very dramatic and exciting, and not predictable.  So, forget Magic Murray, bring on Steady Eddie... on second thoughts Andy is Andy and it just wouldn't be the same without the highs and lows that seem to be his trademark.  After all, the highs wouldn't be half as good without the lows.  Andy shows the others up when it comes to entertainment and win or lose he is still, for me, the most exciting player to watch.  Andy needs a combination of Steady Eddie and Mr Magic on Monday, along with the tennis gods smiling upon him.

Yep a bit of a surprise, but Nadal v Delpy is clearly the big match as far as the organisers go.  At least he hasn't been punted out to court 1 like Fed and Nole.

Hopefully he gets through nice and easily.  I really thought given the epic nature of their last two matches that murray's game would have been given teatime billing.

I will be free to watch it...but a bummer if you are stuck at work!
