I see that Stefanki has said Roddick will be less aggressive than usual today, as his aggressive play saw him pasted in Doha. Surely that is playing into Murray's hands even more - he can't take Murray on in long rallies and expect to win outright!
Is Stefanki being serious or is it just mind games to upset our man's preparation? Not that I think he'd be overly affected by it! Think

If by "less agressive" he means "not rushing the net like a drunk", then that might be a sensible move.

Agreed, but it still won't work, surely? Murray stays in the longer rallies too well and will wait for his chance to win them, something that I'm not sure Roddick is good at, though I appreciate he has improved this year.

I'm actually hoping that the roof will be used, as it should negate Roddick's serve advantage. Think

EDIT: "not rushing the net like a drunk" - lol Good image by the way, I'm picturing a pissed up Roddick meandering towards the net, cap on one side, slurring 'you're my best mate, gimme a kiss!'

Right. I have centre court tickets to see this. If you hear someone screaming "what the falafel are you doing mugray!" You'll know who it is. Fed v Haaaaaaaaaas better not take 5 hours or I shall be very displeased.

Could you not wave a flag with boogers on it or something so we can recognise you?  Have a super day - and please see that he wins with all that constructive pessimism! thumb up

His aggression in Doha was misplaced a lot - movement to the net was predictable and poorly timed, and decision making from the baseline was erratic at best.

Basically, Roddick will be more patient today, as I reckon they see Murray's biggest weaknesses as that second serve (despite the stats), and his tendency to be a little passive and give the odd short ball back.

I think, however, that the only player who will be dragged out of his comfort zone during the match is Roddick, and that'll be the difference.

Stefanki was talking a lot of piddly pooh.  Roddick's ONLY chance is to serve out of a tree the whole match and to really attack Andy's second serve.  If it comes down to long rallies, to exchanges of slice and deftness, or even just hitting from the back, there is only one winner.  I expect to see Roddick attack Andy's forehand whenever possible and mix it up with some serve and volley.  He isn't going to want to get caught mid court trying to volley as Andy passes so well that would be fatal, but he will do it sometimes, as Wawa did very effectively.  Its all on the serve for the American, all his hopes are pinned on that.  If its not working 100% he is doomed....One of the times Roddick beat Andy thats exactly what happened, Murray was off colour and he served like a God, and it was over quite fast...

On an aside, Andy's twitters have been very positive and quite funny at times over the two weeks.  I have noticed in the past when things aren't going so well you can go weeks without a twitter.  I just sense Andy is in a happy place right now.  He needs to have to clear state of mind.  When we are all going crazy, he needs to be the one to remain calm.  One of the things that struck me this week was the expression on Andy's face  when the crowd was roaring at match point against Wawa....imagine how much more intense it would be at MP in the final?

Let's sort out A-Rod first...I wanna see Andy take him to pieces like he did at Wimbledon before.  ESPN classic were showing highlights of that match before wimby started, and Andy played amazing that day.  He was so confident and toyed with the American.  Love to see the same here....

Good couple of posts, excellent analysis!

I've also noticed that Murray's twitters have been coming thick and fast these last couple of weeks. He certainly seems relaxed, which can only be a good thing.

Record numbers of workers are predicted to call in sick so they can watch the 22-year-old Scot face American Andy Roddick on Centre Court.

Victory will see Murray become the first British man to reach a Wimbledon final in more than 70 years.

But bosses are in for a "black day", employment laywers warn, as Brits are lured to skive work by soaring temperatures and the tennis.

End-of-the-week absenteeism, named the "Friday Feeling", could cost businesses around £50m, legal firm Employment Law Advisory Services (Elas) has predicted.

I read that also.  Amazing - first time I have ever read a quote by Stefanki and quite frankly I just cannot imagine him saying such a thing - even though he was credited with it.

I actually saw the video of the interview, it's on the BBC website. He pretty much said that Roddick's tactics in Doha were wrong and he would be a lot different today. If he's serious, then it surely plays into Murray's hands... Think

Murray needs to attack - Roddick coach

Getting nervous now!! nervous

Have a watch of this too while you're at it!
