I think the thing that I find most disappointing is that he looked utterly bereft of ideas and spent the entire match 2 meters behind the baseline slicing it into play.

No he didn't, he did not push today, only when he was lethargic in the fourth set did he push.

Exactly my thoughts. He was hoping Roddick would make a mistake rather than going for winners. But the way Roddick served today was a huge factor.

Ok, so you claim he learns from these defeats.

What did he learn from the uso final spanking?
Australian open?
French open?

He's 22 now and statistics show time is running out for that first grand slam win...

Could you do any better?  The guy is a brilliant tennis player, superbly focused young man who is a credit to a nation.  I think your being a tad harsh.  I'd like to thank him for four years of fantastic excitement, fun and occasional frustration. I'd like him to win a slam or two but if he doesn't I will support him and like him no less.  Thats fact as is I'm gutted tonight but I don't forget the good times he's given us.  Cheers, Andy.

Sorry - I obviously disagree. It was quite noticeable throughout the entire match than Roddick was putting more pace and hitting flatter shots which in turn allowed him to step in and dictate play. Maybe it wasn't obvious on TV?

Is that why he hit more winners than Roddick aye?

Heh, interesting. I haven't looked at the stats - this is based on what I saw. Could be wrong of course.

You were there today, weren't you?  I thought the spectators were very friendly towards Andy Roddick and really supported him very well, considering Andy Murray was on court.

Murray is a counterpuncher, if it takes a few sliced, floated balls to create the opportunity to carve out a winner, so be it.
