Lets put it this way, if he had got through tonight we'd have amassed 100's of comments on here stating what a genius he is and that he's a massive star. You cant tell me that that much has changes within the course of 3 and a bit hours!!

Lets have some perspective please folks, he's 22, playing in the strongest era the games ever seen IMO, and has beaten them all. Sure, he's not had his slam yet but remember the days we were going on about him not being able to get masters titles?...and i'm sure you'll all agree that he has them for breakfast these days. Its just one match!

Hmm....I'm sad obviously, but whatever! Andy has plenty of time to win Wimbledon.

Reasons To Be Cheerful

1. I can genuinely be happy for Fed when he breaks Pete's GS record on Sunday
2. Andy Roddick is back. Haven't seen him play that well for ages
3. All the Murray critics and tennis knownothings can gloat and crow to their hearts content, safe in the fact that he'll never amount to anything and is just a miserable Scottish overhyped git.
4. We wont have to suffer the Queen looking as if she'd rather be anywhere else than on centre court, on Sunday.
5. The American Hard Court Season (my favourite tournaments) start in a couple of weeks.
6. Rafa should be back in Cinni.
7.Andy Murray is 22 and hasn't reached his physical peak yet (according to Boris and Pete Fleming)
8. I have a large bottle of brandy in my cabinet and I'm going to get sloshed when Sree has been evicted from BB.
9. As above, but I also have a very large fresh cream cake to nibble on between swigs
10. I wont be buying a paper for a few days so I'll save money.

And now I'm off to get drunk. *hic* and drown out how completely gutted I am. Smile

lol  I would agree with you on some of those points.

The only person who should/will be really gutted here is Andy and I hope he's not too hard on himself.  It's been a great fortnight and I look forward to the coming months. yes

Roddick's execution of Stefanki's tactics was nothing short of incredible.  For three hours plus Roddick served huge, and his groundstrokes were amazing - so deep that Andy was kept well behind the baseline and then angled wide and short, leaving Andy stranded while Roddick charged the net.  I only hope Roddick plays nearly as well against Fed, and I will be well cheesed off if he meekly surrenders to him having peaked too soon in his extraordinary effort to oust Andy.   My heart goes out to Andy, Roddick played a blinder yesterday, his scalp is so precious, they all want to beat him so badly.  I just want to see Andy Roddick show that same hunger and desire against Fed.  Stefanki looked very smug indeed yesterday, his tactics having successfully snuffed out Andy's chance of progressing; it will be interesting to see what strategy he comes up with for his man tomorrow.  It had better be good as we all know our Andy is one of the very few players who can really trouble Fed.  Let's hope we get a competitive match and not another one sided flop.

^ Excellent summarisation, Clementine.  I agree that it will be very disappointing if the final turns out to be a one sided affair, but I suspect it just might.  Frown

I suspect Fed is going to stomp all over Roddick. They've probably already engraved his name on the trophy. Grr.

Has Murray missed the best opportunity to win wimbeldon possibably. I think he has a much better chance of winning the us open, not just oncer but multiple.

Federer will have a baby to look after next year, so I would say Wimbledon 2010 will be without Federer and Murray will be the second seed. Sounds like a decent chance to take the title again for Murray.

I don't think he missed the best chance, necessarily.  It did seem to being falling into place this year, but he still would have had his work cut out with Fed in the final.  Federer having had much, much more experience in that situation - even though we all know Andy has the beating of him, the occasion would have very big and difficult mentally.

There'll be other years - for sure.  Smile

I cannot imagine it will be at all one-sided ............ it's going to be a corker.

This year was a great chance to get to the final for Murray but did any of us honestly believe Murray would take the title when you consider how Federer would have turned into a superhuman against Murray in the finals?

Now it's Roddick, I think Federer will be so confident he might not play his best tennis so could be interesting.

I think the pressure on Federer is immense - if Roddick can get the first set, there will be a small crack appear for Federer.  I am really looking forward to this match.  Roddick is in his second career - a la Agassi - Stefanki is one of the all time greats - top five coach IMO ......

Hey, I only saw half the match as I moved home yesterday - it's a shame but again he's young.
Looking forward to the final, hoping Roddick manages to finally beat Federer at Wimbledon Smile
