I didn't realise this thread was already up lol.
I don't see Andy losing to Tsonga. I really, really don't. I would bet my life on it.
Andy will either win in straights or Tsonga will scrape a tight set. I think Andy will just be too up for it and just have too much for Tsonga to deal with.
Tsonga openly admits he doesn't like playing Andy, for what must be obvious reasons (Andy beats him, Tsonga has only ever done it once, in 2008). The H2H is massively in Andy's favour, and I don't really care about how good Tsonga is indoors.
Surely Andy will get an evening session at some point, although, has Djokovic had one? I don't think so. Mind you, it's hard to make sense of the schedule. Andy against Tsonga would be better in the evening than Berdych/Djokovic though.
On Friday I will remember to play Chariots of Fire before the match (it worked every match day during the Olympics and USO, but I forgot today!) and Andy should leave the yellow shorts in the locker room.

Tsonga's record against Top 10 players this year is abysmal.
1-14.
Win it in straights Andy, c'mon.

If Murray can't beat Tsonga he doesn't really deserve to go through anyway.

I didn't know top of the group went on h2h that's stupid. Well it doesn't make any difference what sets Novak loses by then if he decides to throw it. It depends really - if Ferrer beats Federer tommorow then it will probably be in Novak's best interest not to finish top - and getting Andy out as huge a bonus it will seem well worth it.
If that happens he might even throw after getting a set even if he's first up before Andy.

In any case it would make a lot more sense to me if there was a rule where the player who has won twice was first up because then there would be less opportunity for people to throw matches.

People making up scenarios ...such as Tsonga not giving his all....or Djoko not giving his all....blah blah....rediculous!
If Andy can't beat an in form focussed Tsonga...then he doesnt deserve to progress anyway. Andy could and should beat him....no excuses....if he doesn't ...then thats that...Andy wont have deserved to progress.

Berdych wins in 3. A lot more simpler now. Here we go:
As it stands:
1 Djokovic - 2-0 - 4/1
2 Murray - 1-1 - 3/3
3 Berdych - 1-1 - 3/3
4 Tsonga - 0-2 - 1/4
Murray and Djokovic win ->
qualifies 2nd
Murray wins in 2, Berdych wins in 2 ->
qualifies 1st
Murray wins in 2, Berdych wins in 3 ->
qualifies 2nd
Murray wins in 3, Berdych wins in 2 ->
doesn't qualify
Murray wins in 3, Berdych wins in 3 ->
qualifies 2nd
Murray loses in 2 ->
doesn't qualify
Murray loses in 3, Berdych wins ->
doesn't qualify
Murray loses in 3, Djokovic wins ->
qualifies 2nd
Quite simply - a straight sets win will guarantee qualification. A three set win would be all but enough, unless Berdych beats Djokovic in straight sets.
If Murray loses, he will still qualify if he wins a set and Djokovic beats Berdych.
Nole won't dare to tank as he has yet to qualify.
I am going to go with the most likely scenario in which case both Andy and Nole win their matches and Andy qualifies 2nd.
Second likely scenario is, Murray wins in 2, Berdych wins in 3 ->
qualifies 2nd
The least likely scenarios are these:
Murray wins in 2, Berdych wins in 2 ->
qualifies 1st
Murray wins in 3, Berdych wins in 2 ->
doesn't qualify
Murray loses in 2 ->
doesn't qualify
Murray loses in 3, Berdych wins ->
doesn't qualify

I don't know the schedule but I hope the match between Berdych vs Nole plays first and it should because Andy has yet to play in that time slot.

So JW hasn't beaten Andy since 2008 at the AO and that's been his only win over Andy. Looking at the H2H, it doesn't appear that these 2 have played one another indoors. Hopefully that serve % of Andy's will be over 50% and those UE's will be low.
I'm hoping for an afternoon start (purely selfish reasons) but will tape the match if evening as I'll be out in the sunshine of Cambridge

But if Andy plays first and wins in 3 then Nole probably won't mind messing with Andy's chances but I think he'd rather Andy advances to take care of Federer, because I don't think he fancies his chances against Federer as much as he does against Andy; that is, should they meet in the final.
All in all, I think we are in good shape.

On a side note, Nole has a 10-1 H2H against Berdych. Wimbledon 2010 was the one ocassion that he did win.

I don't know. Berdych looks a bit too motivated at the moment. If he can take Nole out in straight and if Andy does the same to Tsonga, then I am all for it.
