caught 2nd set as thought it started at 7am not 6am.  So many ues suggests Andy not back to match sharpness yet.  Good news that serving so many aces as that suggests back feels good but tbh don't feel he's really ready for a slam.   From what I heard on radio sounds like the draw has been kind to him in the first week and unkind in the second so perhaps he can at least play himself in to get to the latter.

It was great to see Andy moving well, which for me, was the most important thing. It was only his accuracy that let him down, with 20 UEs in the first set alone.......12 to the forehand and 8 to the backand, however, he served 12aces in that first set too, so it wasn't all bad, but  it was obviously very frustrating for him and that didn't help in the tie breaks! Rolling Eyes I think he just needs sharpening up a bit more and he'll be fine! I didn't mind that he lost, but I would have preferred if it had gone to 3!

Not gonna win the AO this year, I feel. Andy's rustier than my garden gate.
UE's shocking
BUT so many positives! His serve was quite magnificent which surely must mean his back is OK yay Now have high hopes for the rest of the year Fingers crossed
Am in lerve with the Aussie commie wub Just fantastic and so appreciative of both players. clap clap
Anyone know who it was. Simone? Bevc?

Andy can play himself into form with a few of those easier matches

@Bailey
Not sure there's such a thing as an "easy match" at Slams any more. Sure "on paper" but?

 3rd or 4th round at the AO is realistic for Andy.  Anything else is a bonus.

I am aware its an exho, but Andy seems to have gained no momentum from Abu Dhabi or Doha. He seems flat. 7-6 7-6 isn't bad though.
The score sounds quite respectable to me given the circumstances, and Andy often doesn't do too well in exhos, so I'm not reading anything into that.  I think he'll ginger up once the AO starts, although I have no great expectations as to how far into the tournament he'll get.

The main thing for me is that the back doesn't seem to be causing any problems and that he was moving and serving well.

I missed the match but pleased to hear that Andy seemed to be moving well, that's the most positive thing. He often loses pre-slam exo matches anyway, but the extra match practice against someone like Lleyton who's playing well has to be a good thing.
