So I've said this elsewhere but I feel I should say it again Smile

Anne lost today, but I also heard that her grandmother passed away yesterday...
She said that she tried to stay focused but that tennis didn't really seem very important... Frown

My sincere condolences to Anne, she's had a pretty tough life, which is what has made her the fighter she is.  Well done for at least going on court - but I have to say that the death of a loved one very definitely puts things into their true perspective, and there's the element of shock as well.   I hope she will bounce back soon.

btw didn't the same thing happen to another woman player recently? ... Jankovic ...?  Just can't remember her name.

Jelena Jankovic... I think it was at the US Open... Yes it was because she lost on my birthday... Frown

And yep, there's no doubt about it, Anne is certainly a fighter...

This quote is from The Guardian and I found its lack of understanding and sensitivity appalling:

"Keothavong missed a decent chance of scoring only her sixth win this year when she took a 4-2 lead against Tamira Paszek before losing her momentum, her confidence and the match 6-4, 6-2 to the former top-40 Austrian. "My grandmother passed away yesterday and I wasn't really there in the head today. I tried to fight my emotions but tennis didn't seem that important today," Keothavong said.

It seemed as though lack of belief and ensuing loss of rhythm with her more attacking ground strokes which did for Keothavong, who had been absent from the main tour for seven months with a knee injury."

Not only is coming back from such a long lay-off bound to affect her game and her confidence, but she's expected to turn in a winning performance just after she's heard of her granny's death? confused

"lack of belief and ensuring lack of rhythm"....
Not really, she's just lost a relative?! Bad angle with that piece...

Haha we did stuff like zip wires and rock climbing... I wasn't stroppy but I cried in fear at the zip wire. I like to think I've toughened up a touch now...
