Stop it Cate! You're cancelling out my positive energy! I'm holding you personally responsible. Anyway, James did well to get the set. He should be proud.

Well done on James to get the set. He's proved to be a very handy singles player.

Awww I'm gutted, but he was playing Tursunov. I'm glad he managed to get one set off him though.

Brilliant run for Aucks this week. I thought he was a hopeless singles player. How I was wrong....

I think I'm more disappointed cause he got the first set. Cause I didn't think he had a chance then all of a sudden, he did!

Well done James.
Wonder if well see him move up the rankings and qualify for more tournaments now.

Petch seemed to think a run like this to give him confidence in his singles game was all he needed to get moving. Could be an interesting year for him next year.

Auckland's singles game has improved a lot since he got married. First he reached his first Challenger quarters in nine months and that too as a qualifier and then he played his first ever senior match and went on to reach the quarters. Does his wife inspire him.

Never say 'never', but it will be extremely difficult. Auckland's career has reached a point where he must make a few very important decisions. At this moment, his doubles game has reached a stage where he can play Tour matches very regularly but his singles game is still Challenger standard. So he will need to make a decision every single week - "Will I play Tour doubles? Or will I play in Challengers, where I'll have a good chance in doing well in singles?" Because at this moment, his singles ranking means that he will have little chance of qualifying for Tour events.

Does his wife inspire him. They may practice against each other.

Maybe. The case is very different, but Hingis practices with Stepanek whenever they play in the same tournament.
