Colin won a 1st round singles qualifying match in Auckland yesterday/today v Mertinak. 7-6 6-7 7-6 in 2hrs 46 mins. There must have been a lot of tennis in that compared to a normal doubles match, with proper deuce points and 3rd set and all!
Plays Igor Sijsling next

Oh is it hot there Bev?!!
And in the doubles Colin is 1st seed with Soares. Anyone know what's happening with Ross? Someone said he's injured - how bad?
Johnny Marray is playing with Andre Sa, Fredrik Nielsen with Johan Brunstrom. Neither are seeded.
Nielsen said last year he wanted to concentrate on his singles career (!), rather than continue doubles with Marray. He also made it through 1st round qualifiers, but 2nd round might be tougher. All seems a bit odd.
Later edit -answer to Ross Hutchins question from Steven @GBtennis: illness, apparently, so hopefully not out too long

It's 2013!

Colin got double bagelled. Possibly feeling the effects of the long previous round as well as just being outclassed.
Nielsen beat top 100 player Gimeno-Traver in a 3rd set tie-break.

Colin and Soares get the title in Auckland beating Nielsen/Brunstrom in 2 tie-breaks in the final. Colin writing on the camera lens afterwards, "For Roscoe", and mentioned him on the on court interview as well. Colin and Bruno also won their semi-final in 2 tie-breaks. (conceding about 6 points over the 4 tie-breakers).

Pleased that Colin and Bruno won the title - it's nice that they dedicated the win to Ross.

A three set win for Fleming and Marray in their Rotterdam opener against the alternates Koolhof and Fransen 4-6, 6-1, 10-2.
Third seeds Lindstedt and Zimonjic await.
Meanwhile Huey and Inglot lost to Janowicz and Nieminen,

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Slightly flabbergasted that you could have missed this. Ross has cancer and will be out most of the year - that's if he makes a full recovery.
