Good to see Dan is making Delpo work a bit harder in the 2nd set. Delpo to serve at 6-0 2-2

Saw Delboy beat Dan at Queens. Some thoughts on Dan:
Negatives:
Serve technique needs work, throws ball in front of him and leans into it.
Weird bckhand, seems to set it up for a two hander but out comes a one hander, seems to me that makes the set up slower
Doesn't chase stuff down
Positives:
Excellent forehand, in second set was returning Delpot's forehand with interest
Willing to come forward
Good attitude, did not collapse after first set
Seems to me there's a lot of talent there but under utilised and I'm wondering if he ever will. Says he's gonna be more serious, but 23 (?) now and.....

Yesterday in Vancouver Dan thrashed Rochus (WR145) 4&2 and then beat Reynolds (WR138) 3&4 to make his first Challenger final since 2009. This follows up his three set wins over top seed Donskoy (WR72) and Weintraub earlier in the week.

A huge breakthrough week for Dan, who should now break the top 200 for the first time.

Also means two different Brits have made Challenger finals in successive weeks after Wardy won Lexington last week. Konta (also unseeded) is also in the Women's final of the same event (her biggest final to date).

Dan has a Special Exempt into Aptos next week. Ward is top seed in qualifying.

Andy tweeted he watched the semi final on a live stream congratulated Dan and told him to keep fighting in the final.  Really hope Dan can win this one. Be great for his ranking and his confidence.

Dan lost 6-0, 1-6, 7-5 in an absolute heartbreaker, having lead 4-1 in the third and had championship points on Pospisil's serve at 5-4*.

Straight back in action in Aptos and thrashed teenager Krueger 1&2 in R1.

Will have a more difficult job against Wang in the next round.  Interesting though that his final opponent in Vancouver last week is doing well in Montreal maybe Dan did well to take it to him the way he did. A career high ranking of 190 is the result.

Pospisil is *finally* coming of age; it's great to see. Just such a shame Dan couldn't see it out on Sunday, but a very encouraging recent upturn in form.

Dan Cox is also in great form right now, having had a really injury-hit 2012.

So Pospisil, who Dan could well have beaten if not for one poor service game in the final set (or had just taken one of those MPs), is into a Masters semi-final and will break the top 40. Such fine margins. Very encouraging for Dan.

Dan beats Pella again; takes out the top seed 7-5, 6-1 to make his second successive CH100 semi-final. Playing some fantastic tennis right now - Pella couldn't live with him in the second set. Forehand on fire.

Faces the qualifier Dustov tonight (who is also in great form) - and for once, Dan is actually the higher ranked player and favourite. Let's see how he handles being in this position for once.

It would be very good to see him playing up to his ability now he seems to be willing to put more hard graft in - pretty much as Andy has been encouraging him to do.  I imagine Andy has helped inspire him to do that.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

The fact that Dan Evans is even in Aptos says it all. He never used to venture beyond these shores. It's quite exciting. I wonder how high he can climb.

And a final against Donskoy would no doubt bring back a few good memories.

Dan came from a set and a break down to beat him just last week!

Actually, as Donskoy was the top seed last week, that means Dan has beaten the top seed two weeks running.

He is such a talented player that I honestly have no idea just how he could climb if he keeps the right mentality and puts in the graft.
