Did anyone post about Daniel Evans and someone else being punished by the LTA for getting drunk at Wimbledon? I really can't be bothered to trail through the posts before posting anything....

The other person was his doubles partner, Smethurst. I've now found an online article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-1032626/Top-junior-Brits-Smethurst-Evans-facing-suspension-3am-party-nightclub.html

Before that Roger Draper had challenged him to improve his singles ranking into the top 500 by the end of the year.
He has got outstanding talent and has got an interesting few years ahead as he makes the transition from the junior to the senior game.

He is ranked in the 900s now and the challenge is getting those points to improve his senior ranking. He has got to be focused on the top 500 by the end of the year or the beginning of next year to give himself a shot at the top 350 or 300.

He has got a lot of work to do on and off the court.  The men’s game is a very physical and brutal environment to develop in, you only have to have a look at what Andy Murray has had to do in the last few months and the game is moving forward all the time.

Dan really does have a temper!!!! shocking  Definitely need to channel it into something more positive.  Think

The Times
Evans was amazed that he had the focus to win, considering how angry with himself he has been. When he lost the second set, he all but demolished two plastic chairs.

He did go on to qualify though. Smile

I think it's a good and fair punshment, one of the very few things the LTA have handled well.  It doesn't bode well for the future when our best young players are out late the nigt before a match, even if it isn't an important one.  Hopefully this will give all the other players a warning, and show them what will happen if they don't have enough committment to reach the top.

Dan went out to the 2nd seed in a third set tie-break.

He's going to have a rankings slip now.
